Re: Kits for upgrading to Shapeoko 2

Inventables already sells just about everything you need except for Z axis changes. I'd really like to see a page similar to the "Dual Y Motor Upgrade" page that just lists what you need and has links to the product page for each. Mostly this is out of laziness though since I could just look it all ...

Re: Drag Chain Sources / Experiences / DIY

I ordered mine from ebay. It was pretty cheap and works well. I'm not sure how the ungodly expensive stuff from name brands is better, but this has been sufficient so far. It shipped from China, so I think they'll probably ship to Europe as well.

Re: We should switch to metal spacers

Sorry to say, but I REALLY dislike the imperial system. Would problary dislike the metric if I were not born in a country that uses it. I have to link to this tho :P That link is really misleading. It's ...

Re: It's time for a metal v-wheel

Why carry hardcoated slide if you don't carry the v wheels to go with? I was planning on extending my machine with hardcoated and metal wheels when I (finally) get into a house (apartments suck for tinkerers). This is a bit disappointing.

Re: Ennoble's Build log

Ennoble, can we get more details about that braided cover on your cables? I'm quickly coming to a place where heat-shrink at each end and in the middle of each bundle is just too ugly to stomach ... -Phlamingo That looks like Techflex. You can get it from a lot of places (Amazon, partsexpress), but...

Re: 4 X's Stepper Shield

OSH Park has reasonable prices last time I looked, and their website accepts .brd files, so I think you can just upload the file and be on your way. It looks like it has a nice web interface, but I've never actually used any board house. Someone more experienced probably has a be...

Re: ACME screw upgrade for Shapeoko Z-Axis

Did you clamp the rod down before cutting? I almost broke a hacksaw blade, then clamped the rod and finished the cut w/o further incident. Yeah, the blade teeth were worn right off...I think it is more a matter of using a better hacksaw blade! Anyhow, I need to get more cutoff wheels, and I think t...

Re: Ridgid R2401 with ShapeOko

They certainly seem to hold the router “ridgidly”.
 This was great, thanks for the laugh. Looks like a nice setup, is that a variable speed router? I'm interested in a dremel upgrade, but from what I've heard here, the dewault is very loud.

Re: molex connectors & alternatives?

They are a bit ugly, large, and hard to disconnect. The XLR type connectors that a lot of people here have look really nice. I have molex on mine and don't mind them, I think they look nicer and are more functional than terminal blocks, but I'll probably switch to the other type connectors whenever ...
