Re: Should I?

Get it. The affordability is hard to argue. Get the QCTP. I would recommend CNCing it too. I got a really nice kit off ebay for $400. Its great for prototypes. No need to CAD or CAM anything. With LinuxCNC, I just use the GUI for macros (basically gcode function). Just think of it as an automated po...

Could you post a link to your motor? I'm looking to upgrade my dremel and could use recommendations/inspiration. Thanks.

Re: Automatically Upload G-Code Files to G-Code Sender

Try doing a "./python ......" or a ".\python .....". Also try adding a cd("dir_you/want") so you know where the current directory is.

If you're still having problems, try a matlab forum or chat. They'll be more helpful.

Re: Automatically Upload G-Code Files to G-Code Sender

You don't have to have the Python program running. You can invoke Python from Matlab, as with any other external command -- something along the lines of "python stream.py thefile.nc". Surely, that must be possible from Matlab. That is probably an easier solution. Looks like the matlab "system" comm...

Re: Automatically Upload G-Code Files to G-Code Sender

I don't use grbl so this is mostly theory (but I do use the reprap firmwares). And I haven't used matlab in about 20 years. Are you attempting to run the same code multiple times and it is failing on subsequent runs. Are you restarting matlab between runs? Have you tried issuing multiple G0 and G1 b...

LinuxCNC also works well with probing.

Didn't read the full thread (sorry late and I need to get up in a few hours), but something like this could be useful.

If not, sorry for the distraction.

How compatible is the ACME screw upgrade with the changes in v2?

Re: Feeds and Speeds calculations

I have really good luck with FSWizard: http://zero-divide.net/index.php?page=fswizard

To combat the lack of rigidity, I use a smaller DOC. I haven't broken an endmill in quite some time. I also use LinuxCNC, so I can adjust the feedrate in realtime.
