Re: DEWALT DWP611 VS MAKITA RT0700CX

Haha very small world. Didn't have to do heaps of filing was a combination of a fine file and emery paper maybe 15 minutes work. I bought the makita from Mornington Bunnings. Mitre 10 near karingal is about 10-15 cheaper. Things are kind of on hold with me for the moment while im upgrading the X-Axi...

Re: Going Bigger - Rail System

Thanks all for your input. I will be reusing all of the original shapeoko gear for an engraving station/backup machine. With the linear rail that i posted do you think i would need a rail top and bottom for the x asis?

Re: Going Bigger - Rail System

Just to throw in another option. What about going down this path instead? Will end up being about the same cost as postage to Australia for the open gear is huge. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SBR25UU-NEW-25mm-SLOTTED-LINEAR-BALL-BEARING-CNC-ROUTER-/290858257353?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item43b880cb...

Re: Going Bigger - Rail System

It also depend a lot of your machine. If you're using steel V Wheels, then you definitely want to go with Open Rail because Makerslide or any anodised extrusion will be damaged. What precision do you need ? I'm also concerned with the V-Slot both side contact. For the 6h/day, it requires a good rot...

Re: Going Bigger - Rail System

I looked at the v-slot but I am concerned about the idea of using the two outer edges of the wheels vs a single point on the inner part of the wheels. If the z-axis is not 100% solid and perpendicular to the rail I foresee issues. Devin agreed.... will see if anyone has anything else to add before ...

Re: Going Bigger - Rail System

Great idea. Wondering if anyone has had experience with the vslot yet? By Design it seems it would have more stability then the narrow rail

Going Bigger - Rail System

Hi All, Looking to expand my shapeoko substantially with the end result being 1.2 or 1.5 x1.2m. Looking at what my rail options are and have concluded on the following. Option 1: Purchase 40x80 T-Slot Extrusion for all axis and run openrail on the extrusion. Option 2: Purchase the new V-Slot Extrusi...
