Re: Custom 1/8" Collet for Makita RT0701C Trim Router

Will. I simply wanted to thank you again for posting here. I finally received my collets from a Canadian supplier, and as you said, they are of excellent quality and fit the Makita router perfectly.

Re: Custom 1/8" Collet for Makita RT0701C Trim Router

Tks, WillAdams. I'll get back to them. The beauty for me is that they have a Canadian location, so shipping is reasonable.

Have you tried their collets? How was run out?

Re: Custom 1/8" Collet for Makita RT0701C Trim Router

Robotshop.com seems to have the same set as the one on the carbide create site. Same price, too. I wrote to robotshop to confirm that the 1/8" one would fit in a makita rt0701c and they told me that they would recommend that I buy directly from Makita. I replied that Makita does not supply a 1/8", b...

Re: Simple Text Sign

I've only been playing at this for a few months myself, so I have much more to learn. If you like, send me the font you are using and the height of the text. I can do a similation with a 1/4" ball nose in Vcarve to see what it looks like. Do you have a 1/4" ball nose bit? I have not been on this boa...

Re: Simple Text Sign

That's a pretty small bit to be carving something that big. To be tiresome, I'll repeat that I don't use CC, so I don't know your options. I tried an experiment in VCarvePro just now using the size of your sign. I just made the text an arbitrary font and size, as you didn't mention it. I ran it usin...

Re: Simple Text Sign

It's a bit of a learning curve, for sure. I'm betting that you will get it done after watching the video. The short version is that you draw your border, you insert the text, then you select both the border and the text and tell CC to carve out between the two. I don't use CC, so the terminology is ...

Re: Simple Text Sign

What CAD/CAM software are you using? What you want to do is not complicated. if I understand you correctly. I'm sure that we can get it done. If you are using carbide create, here is a video showing you step by step how to do what you want. He is doing stacked text, but the steps are the same. https...
