Open End Plates / Motor Plates???

I've been off this forum for a while - typical summertime distractions. I've been wondering for a while about the promised "Upgrade Parts" ( http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=535 ) - the new open end plates and improved motor plates. When I browsed into that thread, I realized that ...

Re: Owen's Electronics Enclosure

They are the connectors that are typically used for Ham and CB (Citizen's Band) radio microphones. They're available with a number of pin configurations from 2 to more than 7 pins. Can be found at any CB radio shop or by searching for "CB Microphone Connector" online. http://www.americanradiosupply....

Re: BEWARE - Reactive Substance Web site

Backing up a bit, I'll share my ordering experience from Reactive Substance. I took was annoyed at the lack of communications, no order confirmation, etc. I don't know how long before I wrote, maybe about a week. Then several days later I wrote him again, more annoyed and I threatened cancellation. ...

Re: ShapeOko #457 - from Canada *UPDATED*

I've been kicking myself for not buying a plastic organizer full of various lengths of M5 socket cap head screws at a local auto parts store when I first started upgrading my machine. Would have saved me several times its cost in trips to set individual bolts. I order them from McMaster Carr ( http...

Re: aRe: Not Understanding AC Circuits

There's really no need to measure in MegaOhms for this. Inexpensive multimeters with a Mohm range might not be precise at those levels to be of much use. You will be picking up minor surface conductance across the insulating materials. Using Ohm's law, if the resistance were 9Mohms, then the leakage...

Re: Not Understanding AC Circuits

So, if I understand correctly, you are attaching a 9V battery to P1 and checking the voltages throughout the circuit to ensure the correct polarity. Is the DC Power Supply connected while you are doing that? Although it is an AC input on the line IN terminals, it will still have some significant imp...

Re: Control board that requires no programing, no soldering

Vladimir, Are you asking for someone to configure this for you, mate it with an arduino, load firmware, package it? Most people who want a turnkey system go for a makerbot or another ready-made system, at much greater overall expense. Many people on this forum 'could' do what you want, but the parts...

Re: Serial Numbers

Starting a few weeks ago, we started putting the serial number on the box that the machine is delivered in and also in the email that contains the tracking number. The new serial numbers are issued with a letter designation at the end of them. Example: Serial Number 1600F, simply means SN:1600, whi...

Re: Shep's Build Log

One thing you may want to consider: if you swap the location of the motor and the idler then you can turn the belt teeth down so it won't load up with chips as you cut. Good idea. It occurred to me, but I will probably run it first. I should have added these to my future upgrades list, but will be ...
