Hi Scott I use Aspire with my Shapeoko 2 and it works great I am also running TinyG instead of GRBL . I could have a look at your gcode if you want to send it over and see if I can determine what is causing the issue. Also confirm what controller you are using..

I have not had a problem with it blunting my bit but I did slow down the seek speed of the z-axis ..

Don't think it is an issue on heat but more of the fine dust clogging the filter and into the motor that ultimately led to the demise of my shop vacs with the Dust Deputy no dust ever gets past it even the finest particles...

you are correct i have my alligator clips wired to the z-min and ground with a 1K resistor in series with the plate and z-input and the other is wired to ground directly. I have had no issues with static and I live in the local Mountains where the air is dry and static is prevalent....

I would recommend an Oneida dust deputy as I went through three shop vacs before learning my lesson . Just google it, I purchased mine from Amazon...
