Re: Learn From My 'Mystery Problem'

Thank you for this! I've been losing steps on my x-axis for months, and this finally fixed my problem. I had tried adding a fan to my enclosure, messing with the current, upgrading GRBL, and was pretty close to trying the "take it all apart and put it back together" fiasco described. It'll be great ...

Re: Reversed X and Z on 0.9g

Never mind, I figured it out! In my case, I need to change the "dir port invert mask" variable:

Code: Select all

$3=0
The chart is of what this means is here: https://github.com/grbl/grbl/wiki/Confi ... maskbinary

Reversed X and Z on 0.9g

I've just flashed GRBL 0.9g to my stock Shapeoko 2 (coming from 0.8c). Now my x and z axes are moving the opposite direction of what they were before (negative X to the right, positive Z moves downward).

Is there a way to fix this in the GRBL settings, or do I need to rewire my machine?

Re: Pegs and Jokers board game

Here you go. We fit two of them diagonally so that we could make them as large as possible on the stock Shapeoko 2, so that's how they're arranged in the SVG.

It wouldn't let me use an SVG extension, so I added .TXT. Remove it and the file should work as expected.

Pegs and Jokers board game

We first saw the board game "Pegs and Jokers" at a friend\'s house. I had preordered the Shapeoko 2, and had a flash of "I could make this!" inspiration. Since this was our first "real wood" project, we didn\'t really know what to expect, but it turned out great. We picked up some planks of 3/8" pop...

Re: what shop Vac you would recommend for shapeoko

I bought the $40 version of the Oneida Dust Deputy. It looks good, but I haven't used it yet. I just cut holes in my bucket lid to mount it, and thought I'd pass my file along. I'm attaching an SVG to cut a bucket lid with the holes at the right placement/size to attach the Dust Deputy. It's generat...

Re: Screwing into and fastening acrylic dust shoe

Thanks Will! Everything turned out well using your recommended hole size, and I managed to drill and tap straight enough that my pieces should be usable.

Screwing into and fastening acrylic dust shoe

I decided that I would make a DW660 dust shoe myself out of acrylic, using the plans provided here: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Dust_Shoe It took some trial and error, but my pieces turned out great! Now that I've finally got the pieces cut out of the acrylic, I realize that I'm in over m...

Web app - Heightmap grayscale image to G-Code

I'm thinking about creating a web app that will take a heightmap (a grayscale image where brightness = height) and convert it into g-code that would be usable by the Shapeoko for creating full 3D images and parts. It looks like some products like this already exist (like diyCAM - http://shapeoko.com...

Todd, read this discussion:

I think some of the setup numbers for GBRL are incorrect. I've turned my $5 down to 600-700 and it has stopped causing problems. I hope you get it figured out before you bend something up like I did.
