Vacuum table, fiducial camera, and working depth limiter?

By day I operate LPKF PCB routers which have a vacuum table, fiducial camera recognition, and a cutting depth limiter. These are all things I want to integrate into a Shapeoko 3. It's going to be about 6 months (at least) before I save up enough to get the machine, but I'm doing some legwork in adva...

Re: Looks like the Shapeoko 2 has been discontinued

The few things that bugged me about the Shapeoko 2 were the delrin lead nut (backlash), the z-axis was difficult to get to spin smoothly with both the threaded rod and the acme upgrade, the x-axis deflected a bit too much, and the gantry twisted a bit too much. It appears that the z-axis is all belt...

Re: Looks like the Shapeoko 2 has been discontinued

Right now is an awesome time for hobby CNC enthusiasts. I've owned two Shapeoko 2 units. One of them I sold to Mr. Ford himself and the other to a nice guy that I believe now frequents the forum. I've been waiting through the holidays before upgrading to a bigger and more robust machine. I'm glad I ...

How about a fiducial recognition camera system or a depth limiter for engraving?

Selling my 2nd upgraded Shapeoko 2 (pickup in Chicago area)

I'm selling my second Shapeoko 2 to upgrade to a larger machine. This is the full kit completely assembled with the Z-axis acme upgrade, 300w DC spindle, all required power supplies, G-shield, Arduino, etc. Everything needed to just plug it in and go. I have close to $1k into this, and I'm hoping to...

Re: Cutting ABS Project Enclosures

HDPE mills MUCH more smoothly than ABS. You can do rapid passes through HDPE without blinking, but those same passes bind up in ABS. Go a bit slower and a bit lighter in ABS than HDPE.

Re: Is the z-axis acme lead screw worth it?

I just wanted to follow up and say that IC got me all set up with a nice in-spec lead nut. I got it installed today and it works great. Zero up/down motion in the z-axis throughout the entire length of travel. Thank you for your support, and I apologize for any snark I may have had in previous comme...
