Re: Project: Leadscrews

How have you gotten on with the lead screw idea? I'm looking at adding ball screws to my machine so I'm curious as to how the basic idea has worked out for you.

Thanks

Re: Chinese Watercooled 1.5kw Spindle

Well fixed half the problems. Stupidly I'd left CV on in the Mach3 Settings and it was causing most of the issues I posted about earlier. Still not 100% accurate but a lot better then earlier.

Re: Chinese Watercooled 1.5kw Spindle

Finally got the whole system together with the new Nema23's, Gecko G540 and watercooled spindle and gave it a test run on some 6mm MDF. There are some good and bad results from the tests. First off the good: The new spindle performs perfectly on the Shapeoko, with the Nema23's there is no problems w...

Re: Chinese Watercooled 1.5kw Spindle

These appear to cost ~$230 for the 220v version or ~$350 for the 110v version. Does anyone have a cheaper source for the 110v version? It seems strange that there is that big of a price difference. Can't really offer you any help on this but it might work out cheaper getting a different 110v VFD fr...

Re: Chinese Watercooled 1.5kw Spindle

The radiator I am using is actually designed for passive cooling so there is nowhere to attach a fan to it. I'm still trying to find either barbs or adaptors that will allow me to use the radiator & fan combo I have left over from pc water cooling but due to the barbs on it being 1/2" it makes it a ...

Re: Chinese Watercooled 1.5kw Spindle

Quick update: Had a couple of small 10 minute jobs I had to do for a customer so I just threw together the water cooling system so the spindle was use-able. All was/is running perfectly except that the pump appears to be a bit underpowered for this task and the passive radiator does not seem to get ...

Re: Cut2D post processor for grbl?

I'm assuming the Post Processor's are the same as the ones in Aspire so the one I found to work the best with the Shapeoko was the G-Code Arcs (mm) (*.tap) Post Processor. I went through all the PP's in Aspire and that was the best one I would find, it caused the least problems and ran the smoothest...

Re: Using Vectric Aspire to generate Shapeoko g-code

So far it's the best software I have found but it is let down by how the software imports some of the items and the support team. Basically I was told by the support team to just keep messing around and trying different things until it works. Just what you want to hear from the company of a piece of...

Re: Chinese Watercooled 1.5kw Spindle

That pump looks like it should work. Basically anything that has a roughly 1/4" fitting will work. Personally I have gone for an external pump instead of a submersible one. This is just my personal preference & it allows me to use some of the water cooling parts I have left over from computers. That...

Re: Using Vectric Aspire to generate Shapeoko g-code

I have the same problem. I'm trying to use Vectric VCarve, and have tried the Generic Arcs Inch. The Z is, as you say, "grinding". Did you ever find out what in your design was causing this? (The toolpaths display nicely in GRBL Controller.) I'm not sure exactly what was causing it. At the time I w...
