Re: Shapeoko 1 -> Shapeoko 3 upgrade
I could be remembering wrong, but i thought a lot of the excitement and one of the purposes of the shapeoko project in the beginning was making CNC more affordable and approachable by open sourcing the design and components. Its been years since i paid the project any attention, but proprietary sof...

Re: Shapeoko 1 -> Shapeoko 3 upgrade
Can this forum recommend me an upgrade path forward? AFAIK, there is no upgrade path forward without buying a new Shapeoko 3 kit. Carbide 3D doesn't sell parts or a mechanical kit for the S3, so there's no way to get the specialty parts (like the custom aluminum extrusions) without buying the full ...

Re: Plasma cutter mod
Wiring in a relay should be the same as for a 110 relay for a router as noted on: https://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Spindle_Control Unlike with a router, you'll want to use the relay to replace the (low voltage) trigger switch on the plasma cutter, as opposed to switching the main power in to...

Re: Site Blocked Due to Malware
Norton says you have "Rig Exploit Kit Website 8" from add.whitecoatlies.net (81.177.6.49) I definitely don't have it given that this occurred on my phone and laptop and (more importantly), my ISP was able tor resolve it my adding a whitelist entry for shapeoko.com. They would not tell me why it was...

Re: I'm looking for a thermal analyzer
One thing I'll add is to avoid buying a Seek. I've had one for about a year, and while it is OK, the best pictures it takes are crappy compared to what the FLIR ONE takes. The latest version of the app is badly broken and support seems to have no plans to fix it (and they don't respond to my support...

Here's a screenshot of the OpenDNS issue:

I did "contact my network administrator" and am waiting to hear back.

Site Blocked Due to Malware
FYI, OpenDNS has shapeoko.com sinkholed at the DNS level, claiming it's malicious. I can't find much info on what the issue is; VirusTotal says shapeoko.com is clean, but https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/shapeoko.com is clearly unhappy with the domain. EDIT: Found this: http://www.malware-traffi...

Re: GRBL settings calculator - currently available?
Here's a archive.org of http://homepage.ntlworld.com/r.j.noble/ShapeOko/grblcalc/ . It appears to work in browser for me. Note that it doesn't work well for calculating steps/mm on GT2 machines because it will only take inches for the belt pitch setting (and when calculating steps/mm, you really wan...

Re: drillman1 from eBay has a website drillbitsunlimited.com
I'm not convinced they are the same. The selection is quite different, and they list different locations (drillman1's listings are shows as shipping from Georgetown, Texas, while drillbitsunlimited.com says "we are Proudly located in Pittsburgh, PA").

Re: Anyone familiar w/ IPFS?
Given that it appears to require software to be downloaded in order to use it, I think it would just add to the confusion. If you want to try it, the links to use it should probably say "alternative download" or something similar.
