Re: Upgrade from GRBL 0.9a to 0.9g - Need help withSettings

I suggest setting the DIR mask such that the machine moves in the correct direction when you issue jog commands. +X moves the spindle to the right. +Y moves the spindle back. I would then set the HOME DIR mask so the machine homes in the correct direction. Most folks like the machine to home to the ...

How are you stepping x by one in the positive direction? It almost sounds like you moved x to position 1 (i.e. an absolute move, not a relative move). If you manually executed the move by running g0 or g1, then you need to verify whether grbl is in relative mode. $g will show the current mode.

Re: GCodeTeleporter.com - Another Free Windows GCode Sender

I started working on an application in Javafx but I'm not close to being done. Two features that would be nice are an updated label next to the step size showing units (i.e. mm or in). And a dropdown box to select that active work coordinate system.

Based on the pic, I will definitely give it a try.

Re: Stepper motors not rotating

I found that tightening the two a allen head bolts for securing the delron block to the x-axis plate can deform the nut and increase the torque required to turn the z-axis threaded rod.

Re: Shapeoko 2: PCB via plotter/sharpie method

I had luck with Cadsoft Eagle and Pcb2gcode plugin script. I recommend giving it a shot.

Re: Need PCB Milling Settings

Very nice work! I am impressed that you were able to cut the entire etch in a single pass. I think I need to pickup some of this thin scotch double sided tape. Please keep posting your progress.

Is the trace on the top DIP6 supposed to connect to two pins?

Scott, the latest signal images you posted look pretty clean. Are you getting false limit alarms running in that configuration?

Re: Need PCB Milling Settings

I second the recommendation to use an end-mill rather than the engraving bit. I tried cutting a circuit with an engraving bit and didn't have much luck. Overall, an engraving bit requires much more precision in your Z than an end-mill. Without auto-levelling, it may not be possible to get great resu...

Re: Z Axis return to zero goes too far and job won't "stop"

Doesn't the M30 command set the units mode back to metric? I don't have access to my Shapeoko to confirm this but a quick review of the GRBL code shows mc_reset() being called on receipt of an M30 command. If the units is set back to metric, is it possible the OP failed to let the HelloWorld program...

Re: Need help troubleshooting GRBL shield

I could be wrong but I think you need to manually do 'cycle start' if your grbl configuration has $14 set to 0, which it is based on the configuration provided in your original post. Either set $14 to 1 and retry or type '~' to start the cycle manually. I haven't tried it but I suspect '~' will star...
