Really nice software. I work for the Dutch Autodesk reseller Greenock and am responsible for the Autodesk CAM software in the Netherlands. Shapeoko plays nice with Inventor HSM. Especially 3d moves look really nice. I use the Tiny G postprocessor.

In solidworks you can use Hsmxpress for free. Thats 2.5d. You can try the full 3D version for 30 days

And if you travel at high speed, how many lines per second can grbl process. Ive seen it do up 100 lines per second, but dont know the limit

Work with inventor and like it much. I know the frustration in sketchup and prefer parametric design. Advantage of inventor is that you van use inventor hsm (express) for milling. As I work at an Autodesk reseller I can use the full InventorHSM and shapeoko plays nice with 3d moves.

Whats the advantage of seperation the motor and the tool? It takes up more space so there must be something to win :)

I read about chirping noise of power suply and I had that too (would be weird as it worked last week). Tried to change polarity, but it didnt help (no blue light on GRBLshield)
