Re: CNC Piranha Fx

An update, of sorts: I would avoid this product line like the plague. I finally started cutting my first project (not overly complex, compared to ones I completed on my SO2), and the software paused the job about 20% in (about 10 minutes). Turned it off. Started it up and since the machine was alrea...

Drag knife option

Found this site (think it's European) while looking for vinyl cutting tips and tricks:link. Looks very swanky. Not sure how much 59 Euro is, but it oozes German engineering!

Re: CNC Piranha Fx

Here's a bit of an update (with a rant of sorts): I haven't actually cut anything yet (of merit), so I can't really talk about overall performance, but I have had buyer's remorse more than a few times with this unit. I decided to take a more analytical approach to getting up to speed with this unit,...

Re: Apple Watch Stand & iPhone Dock

Nice work. I like the combination of printed and milled materials. Purists might cringe  but I like it.

Re: CNC Piranha Fx

This was one of the options i weighed when i chose the Axiom AR1. I couldnt stand that the shark was all made of HDPE. I also went and saw a shark HD3, but the spindle carriage had a lot of flex. My goal was tight tolerences, but i didnt need a big build area. Overall, im happy i went with the axio...

Re: CNC Piranha Fx

I just picked one of these up at CanadianWoodworker (only distributor in Canada that I am aware of). I paid $2500 for the basic kit (comes with Vectric V-carve Desktop). I have built a large (1m x 1m) SO2, and I was able to make some nice stuff with it, but I rarely used the full bed, and I was tire...

Re: Enhancing Existing Items with your CNC

Very nice work people!!! This is the type of stuff I want to get into, and it is always nice to get inspiration (i.e steal ideas from  ) from other users. I look at CNC boards on Etsy and Pinterest, so there is a good amount of inspiration, but to be honest, so of the CNC inspirations there...

Re: My First CNC'd Guitar Body

Nice work! I am going to eventually get around to doing a guitar on my SO2 (might do a Tele style as a warm up), but really want to do a carved body Les Paul. Might even get fancy and do some scroll-work and carving on the top. I think doing the body as a multistage (do back and then front) would al...

Re: Beginners guide to setting up bCNC (+ autoleveling)

I tried to use the eval build, but I can't get it to open. I can get the master build to run no problem, but with the eval version all that happens is I see the Python window rapidly open/close, and that's it (much like when I first tried to run/install bCNC in the first place (when I extracted the ...

Re: Scan a model from a real-world object?

Rather than create another thread, I thought I would add a link to a DIY probe that I found, that doesn't involve heavy-duty lathing/machining, and would actually be able to be partially created with your SO2/SO3: link . I haven't made it (yet), but this one seems much more doable by an average DIYe...
