Re: Nylock nuts

I use nylocs with anti vibration washers to clamp my router mounts. Perfect for the job but occassional dissasembly (to use the router by hand) is a PITA with the nyloc resisting all the way. Still better than cleaning up and reapplying loctite at these particular nuts and bolts in my opinion and si...

Re: Quadcopter - Where to get Fiberglass-Epoxy Sheets in UK?

Hobbyplastics.co.uk sell it under their modelling materials section. The best source in Europe for composite materials of this sort is r-g.de that is where the top aero model builders get their mateials. There are others but I can't remember their names right now! Neither source sells it in anything...

Re: 3/8th in. Aluminum DWP611 Mounts

Hi Tony, I have no means of quantifying the flex in the Z axis yet and obviously I have only ever had my Dewalt 611 in HDPE mounts. From visual and haptic observation it feels as stiff as the dremel ever did in it's aluminium 'universal' mounts. I have observed that I get a lot more flex by torquing...

Re: Finding extrusions for bed in Europe

Has any ordinary retail buyer managed to buy from misumi UK? They sell some nice stuff but when I looked into ordering their login/checkout system warned they only sell business to business. Maybe I'm looking atthe wrong part of their website.

Re: 3/8th in. Aluminum DWP611 Mounts

Having just been down the same road, albeit in HDPE, I have to say I like how you've incorporated a locating lug in the mount using the milled groove on the router body. Also impressed that you are tackling aluminium - what spindle did you use to cut it?

Re: spindle power / feed rate

Finally got my shapeoko back up and running! First thing I did was cut new mounts for a Dewalt out of 15mm HDPE. I mention this because this was the first time I'd ever cut anything at all and the following process helped in gauging appropriate speed and feeds for the HDPE and can be applied to any ...

Re: GRBL releases on GitHub

Unfortunately it looks like you're right. No releases have been tagged in the repository. Kind of unbelievable! Never the less you could check out the repository as it was on the date of the release you want to change. Here is a discussion on how to do so. Based on our last discussion I take it you ...

Re: 3D CAD Tool Poll

I use Rhino, it's free on a Mac while they get all the bugs ironed out. You do have to put up with a forced monthly reinstall as they want everyone to be running the latest version. Fair enough as, otherwise, they'd be getting bug reports about things that have already been fixed. I also use Sketchu...

Re: Touch plate with UGS

Yes, that is what I was thinking but tried to work around it by suggesting grounding the X and Y limit pins while using the touch plate. Then realised that GRBL does a series of ever slower, ever closer bounces off of the limit switches at the end of homing and thought that a permanently grounded li...
