Re: Scan to toolpaths ideas

I've been looking for an automated technic as well. I've done a bit and you can see just one picture on another thread http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6604 ... however, drawing correctly a tool takes me a huge amout of time : take a picture from far (with a zoom), import it in inks...

Re: Homing switches kit for a shapeoko 2

I have installed some homing switch on my shapeoko 2. Sorry, this is not an answer for a kit. I bought the different parts separately. but it was quite easy. you'll need : micro switch (ebay) shielded wire. the best option of wiring I saw involved connecting the gnd, no circuit of the switch (normal...

Re: Problem during a 2.5D job

I was thinking that if we all collaborated on CAD files here: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/List_of_Tools it would be easy / automatic to do things such as: ..................... (written up here: http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1797 tool designs are mostly linked from t...

Re: Problem during a 2.5D job

Sorry to get off topic but Chrisprols do you mind sharing your cad files and what type of material you are using? This is a great idea. Thanks, Tom Tom, Don't ask me why but i never got the notification from the forum that I had a repply on this topic. I don't have the files with me, next time I co...

Re: Problem during a 2.5D job

Hi again, No mean to contradict you, RobCee, but I'm milling foam. Ok it's a hard foam rather than the usual foam you can find in a basic cusson/pillow but it's really easy to mill. In the meanwhile I have gone back in my workshop and re-generated the code with a change in CAMBAM settings : I asked ...

Re: Problem during a 2.5D job

Thanks for your answer and advise. I didn't check my code against the wiki page ... I didn't know how to do it. ... so for this time, I only looked by hand (if there is any automated way, I'd be happy to know) even though I'm not sure what I should be looking at. The only discrepency I can see is G6...

Re: Problem during a 2.5D job

oh and just an additionnal image of the catastrophy : IMG_20150728_155840 (Small).jpg FYI, I'm milling some pockets in foam to the shape of some hand tools. Those pieces of foam will go in the drawers of my toolbox. I'm aiming for something like this : http://foamfittools.com/graphics2/F1S-00042_18W...

Problem during a 2.5D job

Hi, I'm posting this message in this section, but if it belongs to another one, please move it ! The problem is the following : during a pocket operation, my spindle went completely out of track ... going much further than the pocket limits and pushing the boundaries of my shapeoko 2 ... well that d...

Re: rough pass + finish pass even for simple pockets/profile

Thanks for your answers ! first time I hear of HSM and it sound like an interresting way to mill. For those too lazy to click the link, if I understand well : have deeper passes, but much lower step-over (5~10%), and faster feed speed. My concern was also to avoid wearing off the bottom of the endmi...
