XXL Projects for Junior High

Just finished assembly and running 'hello world' on serial number 9980.

Now I'm tasked with finding projects that will work for 6, 7, 8th graders.

Ideas?

Thanks

XXL Drag Chain and the X axis homing switch

In the middle of installing an XXL and have not "taped" down the drag chain. However when the X-Z plate is all the way to the right, the drag chain seems to be catching on the bolt that holds the X homing/limit switch in place.

Is this normal? Did I do something wrong?

Re: Happy birthday to Edward Ford

Love my serial number 13.

Now installing XXLs in 2 Junior High Schools here in Mesa, then maybe 2 more in the fall. And I'm just a volunteer.

Thanks? And Happy Birthday.

Re: Newbie workflow help on curved stock

I probably don't understand the problem, but I'd suggest the use of the Auto-Leveling capabilities of either BCNC or ChiliPeppr. The simplified work flow is: Define the part you want to cut as if it's going a flat surface; Place the material on the SO3; Load the part's gcode into BCNC or Chilipeppr;...

Re: cutting box joints

I'm interested in cutting box joints as well. What are your ideas for the jig to hold the wood?

How to mount the jig to the SO3? How to hold the wood in the jig? Jig material: wood or metal? Will bolting a jig to the SO3 frame cause the frame to warp.?

Re: Cutting beyond the front rail

I'm interested in the "jig" that will hold the boards beyond the front of the SO3. And any problems in making and using it.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Arizona Heat

I live in a suburb of Phoenix, AZ. Most garages in Phoenix are not insulated and will easily reach temps over 100 degrees and often approaching 110. I only used my SO3 in the early morning hours after very cool nights. Remember your dewalt router and your controlling computer will have to operate in...

Trout In the Bottom

People who tie fishing lures use lots of little shallow dishes to hold the various building components. A friend turns, by hand, each bowl so each bowl is a little different. He asked if I could engrave a trout in the bottom. The outcome wasn't earth shattering other than the fact the height variati...
