Good idea. I may do that if its not too much trouble.
Sometimes doing anything around the spindle area gets to be a pain.
Thanks

Single or double clamp for cnc spindle?
Using my Shapeoko 2, the upper clamp blocks my Makita from "sliding down" so I have to raise up the bed for certain pieces of wood so it will contact the spindle bit. If i remove the upper clamp ad use only the lower clamp, I would have much more z axis movement in the downward direction. Can I use ...

computer STILL goes to sleep while running
There were a few jobs I checked in on and the spindle was spinning, but not moving. It had stopped. The computer screen was dark. The machine shut down. I set the sleep setting to never shut down and the display to never shut down and it still does it. Ruined a few jobs which went "almost" to comple...

How do I do a tool change?
I have Shapeoko 2. Universal Gcode Sender . Limit switches for homing installed.
How do you do a tool change for a program that requires a roughing toolpath with a larger bit and then a finishing toolpath with a smaller bit?
Thanks
K

Re: Question about using More Powerful Heavier Makita
That gives me a little relief about using the nema 17s.
In the meantime I ordered a set of 1/4 and 1/8 inch collets from Robotshop.
The dc quiet cut spindle could run for hours.
In your experience how long would you let the Makita run at a time for a job?
Thanks

Question about using More Powerful Heavier Makita
For Shapeoko 2 with Nema 17s, 600 watt quiet cut DC spindle. I have used a for awhile. I know its limits. Recently I have got a mount and attached a Makita RT0701. Still using the baby Nema 17s. What can i expect with the tradeoff of the lower powered lighter DC spindle vs the bulkier heavier AC Mak...

Re: Does Inventables Nema 23 upgrade to Shapeoko 2 work ok?
Thanks. How did you increase the voltage? It has been years since I first assembled the Shapeoko 2, but I seem to remember some adjustments on the board to control the current, but not the voltage. Does the controller board upgrade you mention have provisions for homing and limit switches (homing an...

Does Inventables Nema 23 upgrade to Shapeoko 2 work ok?
I am dusting off the old shapeoko 2 after 2 years of non use. I miss my cute little machine. In the past I have done a few mods to it but hesitated about a stepper motor upgrade from Nema 17 to Nema 23. I wasn't sure if the power supply could handle the extra power the controllers require. Question ...

Re: USG 2.0 chokes while running program
THAT DID IT!!!!! I put () on opening line to comment out the tool change. Both programs ran all the way. Put another program on without commenting the 1st line... stopped dead in a few seconds. Then edited as the other two files. Ran all the way through. So now I am ready to actually start cutting s...
