Re: Upgrading S02 to 1000mm^2, advice needed.

Thanks for the reply! So the wide makerslide would be just for the x-axis, correct? All the other hardware is the same? Endplates etc. Anything else I would need to make that change? I looked at that X carriage, but I'm still running the stock nema 17s. Think that's worth the upgrade? I have 3 nema2...

Upgrading S02 to 1000mm^2, advice needed.

Going to upgrade my good ol' S02, have a few questions. It is stock except it has a DeWalt spindle, ACME Z axis and limit switches. I followed the list on Instructables project page to put together the list of required parts (https://www.inventables.com/projects/1000mm-x-1000mm-shapeoko-upgrade-kit)...

Re: Laser Diode Engraving

Ok, been thinking about this. Have a cover for the shock mounted laser to protect it when milling. Have the entire machine in an enclosure that is vented outside. Have a separate vac system to get all the milling debris out of the enclosure. Have clear safety glasses for milling ops and a whole sepa...

Re: Extending axis activity lights for an enclosure

Makes sense. Thanks for the reply. I'll do a little digging to see if anyone else has come up with a solution for this. If you get a chance to ruminate on it though, I would really appreciate your expertise.

May you dream of precisely milled parts and perfectly behaved electrons!

Re: Extending axis activity lights for an enclosure

Thanks for the reply! Although I am a bit familiar with the 555, I feel like this is out of my league electronics wise. If you could be so kind as to explain one thing in regards to your proposed solution though. If you extended the pulse time with a 555, wouldn't that eventually create a lag betwee...

Re: Arduino fried by gshield wiring

Yep, the exact same thing happened to me when I first wired my machine. Luckily I had a spare Uno around. Then I just tinned and snipped my motor wires so there was basically zero exposed conductor.

Extending axis activity lights for an enclosure

Hello, I'm planning out my electronics enclosure and would like to have 3 LEDs on the panel to indicate axis activity. My initial thought would be to just hook pins 2,3 and 4 up to LEDs (say 5v, 20ma) through a resistor (say 220 Ohm or whatever). LEDs flash with the pulse signals, any reason why thi...

Re: Laser Diode Engraving

Nope. I'm thinking of a system where you can have your router and a laser mounted at the same time. Then switch between them the same way you might switch endmill. I'm a newb but from what I gathered could you have physical switches that swapped the Z stepper and the diode. From there it would just ...

Re: Laser Diode Engraving

Do you guys think there would be anyway to set up a machine do be able to do both? Say your diode and a DW660? That would be awesome!
