Shapeoko music forum

It's become very quiet in here. Maybe a new forum would help where we can discuss Shapeoko's influence on contemporary music? I mean songs like The first cut is the deepest , The final cut , Axis or Hot Stepper , or bands like Cutting Crew , Cnc , The Routers or Shallow Cuts , or albums like Tha G-C...

Re: Using a Shapeoko3 to drill aluminum

Isn't the high Z force controllable by changing the plunge rate in software? So, reducing that, it shouldn't push off centre? This works only to some extent. Aluminum is much more picky in that respect than wood. If you go too slow, the drill would only rub on the surface and create heat, which mel...

Re: Using a Shapeoko3 to drill aluminum

I have used the DrillOko last year to drill some holes in aluminum. The result was not very good, due to the high z force the drill top was wandering to the -y direction. I optimized my Shapeoko for smaller distance of the spindle center from the x axis, stock machines (Shapeoko 2 and 3) will have w...

DrillOko

I had around 30 holes to drill in a 6060 Aluminum plate and was too lazy to do the measuring and drilling by hand on a drill press. On the other hand, I could not mill the holes with a spiral toolpath because the holes have the same diameter as my smallest endmill with 15mm flute length. And I hate ...

Here are some cutouts from milling round holes in 6mm Aluminum 7075:

The rightmost one is 0.8mm in diameter, and I'm very surprised that it survived the attacks of the milling bit when it pushed through the material.

Re: Shapeoko2 for Aluminum (Makita)

The Kress router is in the Wiki . There are actually 4 different models : Kress 530FM: 530W, 29000rpm fixed speed. Kress 800FME: 800W, 10000-29000 rpm. Kress 1050FME: 1050W, 10000-29000 rpm. Kress 1050FME-1: 1050W, 5000-25000 rpm. The video is very nice, unfortunately it does not list the alloy (pro...

Re: EMC2 and Fusion 360 tooling question

You can try to set the postprocessing property "useM6" to no. If that does not help, you can always customize your post to always output tool number "1" instead of "tool.number" (search for useM6).

Re: Kress 1050

A few more here or here. Find one that matches the hole pattern on the Z plate or can be modified.
Or make your own out of Delrin or Aluminium, using one of the designs floating around on thingiverse and other places, or just make your own design.
