Re: Shapeoko 2 inspired custom build
Curious, was the deflection in the z-axis or really more in the x-axis? I'm looking at making a new x-axis to better handle the loads of a Dewalt 611 (about the same power as the Ugra CNC spindle, though obviously not as nice!). Sorry for the late reply, yes I'd say the x-axis was were I saw deflec...

Re: TLR 22 chassis
Pretty awesome to see some RC action here. I'm still awaiting shipment but have several items in mind that no one really makes readily available to sell locally. I thought about trying to rival Custom Works but I'm afraid that Tony Stewart might hit me with a car. Lol, I've gotten a couple o...

Re: Anyone handy doing 3d cad modeling?
Have you tried heating the carbon fiber to bend it? You will probably have to support the carbon fiber both above and below and both sides of the crease. Otherwise it will probably want to bend in the pockets. Also, if you overheat the carbon fiber, it may bubble. I would suggest trying with scraps...

Anyone handy doing 3d cad modeling?
I've got a project going and need some assistance. I'm in the process of working on a carbon fiber chassis, and need to have a Kickup at the front of the chassis produced so I don't have to do any molding with the carbon and can continue to machine the main part of the chassis in 2d form. Below are ...

I get my carbon from Protech Composites. They often times sell carbon scrap in 1/2 or 1 lb packages that have random sizes of scrap in them.

TLR 22 chassis
Have had some free time so finally got around to working on a Carbon fiber chassis for one of my RC cars, TLR 22. Figured I'd share some pictures of the progress... All done with my Routakit HD Z and X axis. Highly recommended! http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p567/afk661/7FFF967E-CF63-46D0-880F-...

Re: Vacuum Table
Really like the idea of being able to remove the setup if needed. Instead of being a permanent table top. Awesome work!

Re: Gecko people
I've been running a STDR-4C which runs off the Gecko 540, and Ethernet smooth stepper and love it. Very smooth and glitch free setup.
