Re: Inaccurate Z depths when running straight line tests

So luckily I have a friend who also has a shapeoko 2 stock and he offered to let me try his GRBL shield to see if maybe mine is bunk. So I switched them out and voila, it worked beautifully. I guess my Z-axis driver is bad..just emailed support about the possibility of getting a new one.

Inaccurate Z depths when running straight line tests

Hi, I'm experiencing an issue with my z axis for my stock shapeoko 2 running grbl 0.9g. I should mention that I've upgraded to a quiet cut spindle and put together an enclosure with proper fan cooling for the GRBL shield. Now when running a simple line test of 9 straight parallel lines cutting to a ...

Any advice on what's wrong here?

Hi, I'm currently using a full stock shapeoko 2 with 30 degree 0.2 mm V-bits. I'm using Altium for PCB design and CamBam to generate my gcode. In CamBam, I'm doing a outside profile cut with a target depth of 0.23mm, cut feedrate at 200, and tool diameter set to 0.25mm (extra mm to compensate). Afte...

Re: Stable GRBL 0.9g settings for full kit stock?

ok so setting the $1 step idle delay to 25 instead of 255 got rid of the blinking z axis LED and the pulsating motor noise. The z axis seems to travel fine when manually setting how many steps to travel under machine control. although when running a job, the z axis travels up fine, but then travels ...

Re: Stable GRBL 0.9g settings for full kit stock?

ok so I've plugged my z axis motor into the x axis and even changed my x axis maxrate to match my z axis maxrate (320.000) and voila it moved beautifully. no jerks at all. so then I switch back each motor to its appropriate terminal and re-entered the correct maxrate values for each axis...and still...

Re: Stable GRBL 0.9g settings for full kit stock?

Hey thanks for the quick reply jarretl and txcas! I've taken your advice and changed $2=0, my xyz max rates to 2500, 2500, 500, and my xyz accel rates to 50, 50, 30. Yet I'm still having the same issue, but now my z axis motor is making a sort of "pulsing" noise and the z axis LED on the shield blin...

Stable GRBL 0.9g settings for full kit stock?

Hi, I've purchased a full shapeoko kit and completed the build a couple weeks ago. When I first ran "Hello World" .nc file on 0.8c the machine ran fine (or so I thought.) When it came time to run my first job, the machine plunged too deep (or under-retracted when traveling to safety height) and went...
