Re: Need help on bit selection

Will, the 3/4 thickness is just a number I threw out there. I'm sure a half inch would suffice. (Just looking for good depth to make the logo look more bold.) As far as hogging material, I would be using 1/4" on my makita. And finishing those tight corners with the smaller bits. I suppose I could ta...

Re: Need help on bit selection

I would love to get started with lasers, but from what I understand, unless you have a 40 watt co2 it won't cut much more than 1/4" plywood

Need help on bit selection

My current project is a flat piece of aluminum 3/4". I'm looking for an endmill that has a 3/4 LOC minimum and needs to go into tight corners as small as 1/64". The project is a flat sign, with the cuts all going straight into the piece all the way through. Is there any bits available for the cuts I...

I recently acquired an older desktop from family and would like to use it for my cam/cad computer. I have all of my software for modeling downloaded and running but am having problems with software for the shapeoko. What would have to be done to make it comparable?

Re: File won't run. Error when sending file stream

I just don't understand how I can write one program, send it flawlessly and never have to even preview my part or gcode. But then I can go and write another program and ugs will throw an error and not be happy with the code.

Re: File won't run. Error when sending file stream

So is grbl just a picky <rude word for unpleasant female elided> or is it normal to have to adjust gcode with open source? I know I'm still learning but I feel like this is just kind of the first thing that should be taken care of and working correctly.
