Re: Premature order

It seems to be priced alongside the price point of the current Makerbot Replicator, so there is a market there. It's not a kit, so they need to provide full support and that's probably a large part of the cost that we don't think about. Any design ideas from Carvey that are worth "borrowing" for our...

Re: Electronics upgrade. need advice.

That looks good. What is the model of the relay you are using? I'm not this far along yet but the components look good. This is the relay I have shown in my diagram: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-5V-4-Channel-Relay-Module-With-Optocoupler-For-Arduino-PIC-ARM-AVR-DSP-/301148481972?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0...

Re: Electronics upgrade. need advice.

Thanks for the feedback and corrections. I've uploaded a new diagram. I'm using Visio for the drawing. I swapped the relay module, as shown below. basically the same though. Switching the "hot" only. The e-switch is wired in series with the power to the relay-module. Hitting it should kill power to ...

Electronics upgrade. need advice.

Hi all, I'm upgrading the electronics for my shapeoko and seeking some advice. Previously, my e-stop was the switch on a surge protector which fed the electronics and dewalt spindle. With the upgrade, I'm adding a real e-stop along with some relays to control things better. Also replacing the arduin...

Re: Tapping Delrin

Cool! I tried making one like this but with four flutes. The problem I had was there was too much friction with the precision acme rod that I got from mcmaster-carr. I also had some non-precision rod worked well though. Would three flutes work better? I just figured that the tap needed to be a littl...

Eventorbot

I thinking about getting a 3D printer... Any advice? I'm very tempted by the full kit Eventorbot on kick starter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1874396831/eventorbot-open-source-3d-printer# but I don't have any experience on what to critique. With the manufacturing woes of the shapeoko, I'm wo...

Re: Dual Motors of one driver.

Cool Project. I have a piece of makerslide that I've set aside for doing a timelapse slider....one of these days....too many hobbies :) Also, I only had to reverse one of the windings of the stepper motor. Swapping both windings did not change the direction in my setup. Motor 1>>Motor 2 RED---------...

Hi cvoinescu,

I bought some aluminum plates to do what you are doing with the motor plates. Do have drawings uploaded somewhere?

Re: Arc Reactor prop

You could also try using wax instead of flour if you wanted more details in your experiments.

It can be bought or made:

once done you melt and re-use!
