I highly recommend Inventable's X-Controller, which is an Arduino GRBL based controller that can supply 4 Amps per motor. When I upgraded my 500mm Shapeoko 2 to a 1500x1000mm beast I replaced all the motors with 2.8 Amp NEMA-23's. The the little GShield couldn't handle it, but the X-Controller works...

It still works for me, so I don't think you were doing anything wrong. Maybe the server was temporarily down. Try it again later.cbl600r wrote:The 360 link to your file doesnt work. am i doing something wrong?

Very nice. And clean! Maybe too clean... hmm. Are you sure you're using this thing? Of course, I can only compare against my own office, which is a dusty mess.

Probably the current to the stepper motors is too low. Have you ever adjusted the drive current by adjusting the pots on the GShield? Also, check your belt tension and make sure that pulley set-screws are tight and aren't slipping. maybe 1/8" deep Should be no "maybe" about it. You can set the maxim...

You can attach images to your post, or you can upload them to the Shapeoko Wiki (I think) or any number of free image hosting sites. You could also upload the 3D model to https://sketchfab.com , if you want. If you search the forums you'll find lots of sound proof enclosures. A few folks have even b...
You should also fasten your X-axis Makerslide together and reinforce them w/ angle aluminum or one of the other techniques on the wiki. Inventables has a new wide Makerslide that is designed for their X-axis carriage for the XCarve machine. It's notably stiffer than two Makerslide rails bolted toge...
Is there any chance I could commission you to make a second one? Not right now, but I'll keep it in mind. I'm currently focusing on building a much larger CNC machine, so I'm not doing any jobs right now. It's easily going to take another month (or two) to get the new machine up and running due to ...
a little surprised they haven't offered something rectangular rather than square. I totally agree. Square machines don't make a lot of sense for a few reasons, one is space, another is that board stock is almost never square. You can get the S3 in a rectangular format, but it's a fixed size. I'm ex...
Any new puzzle projects since this one? There's a real market for these. I know a lot of people (myself included) who would pay decent money for them. Not yet, but I'm planning to do more. I've sketched up some ideas in Blender and Fusion, including a really big one (size of a coffee table). I prob...
