Re: fusion 360 is AWESOME!!!

wow... i didn't realize this was free for hobbyists. Is it really? It is free for startups for 12 months: http://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/try-buy After that, you will have to pay $25/$40 a month? I would like to use something like this, but I am afraid they will change policy after some...

Re: How to run ChiliPepr w/o internet (was Re: Software)

In reading this thread it occurs to me (and I believe I have mentioned this before) that the most annoyed people bought a TinyG and feel betrayed because there is no offline program meant for it. That has happened because Synthetos (the company behind the TinyG) discontinued development of tgfx when...

Re: How to run ChiliPepr w/o internet (was Re: Software)

Just to be clear I am not John Lauer (the author of ChiliPeppr) though I have in a small way contributed to it, and will continue to do so.

If John wants to dedicate his time to a retail version that is his choice ... I wouldn't do it. Knowing his career I doubt he'd do it either...

Re: How to run ChiliPepr w/o internet (was Re: Software)

I really like the Chilipeppr UI, and the functionality of the app is pretty great, and I can totally get behind running a gcode sender app like this in the browser. But I see no reason at all that Chilipeppr couldn't have been a simple static HTML page that runs some Javascript, with all the code a...

Re: How to run ChiliPepr w/o internet (was Re: Software)

Also since 60% of the worlds population doesn't have internet access, not everything belongs in the cloud. That's an exaggeration of my point ... I was not advocating that everything move to the cloud, now. I am addressing a single use of the cloud and prognosticating on where I, as a software deve...

Re: How to run ChiliPepr w/o internet (was Re: Software)

I really don't understand this rush to return to the bad old days of the centrally-controlled mainframe. Personal computers are supposed to be about freedom. If need be, we'll create yet another section of software on the wiki --- "free" software which doesn't give one the freedom to run it w/o a '...

Re: How to run ChiliPepr w/o internet (was Re: Software)

Before I get to the main part of my reply, let me state that I fully sympathize with your desire and requirement for an offline gcode sender. It's a clear necessity ... but (main part begins), that really isn't what ChiliPeppr is for. Lots and lots of work could go in to making a version of ChiliPep...

Re: Hard limit Switches

By the way,in re-reading your post I think only the X axis is reversed. Y should go positive away from you, and I believe it is. Z should go positive upwards, and again I think it is. The X-axis is the two motor setup. Depending on how you wired the motors, you either reversed one side and connected...

Re: Hard limit Switches

This suggests you have the polarity reversed. You can correct the issue in the wiring, by switching ONE of the pairs for the stepper motors you want to change, or with the TinyG you can also change this in the configuration. Re: Buy SO2 Mechanical kit, adapt for ballscrews

I'm not saying that ballscrews aren't better than trapezoidal screws -- they are, but the rest of the machine is nowhere near rigid enough for that to matter. :) So here is the question. Given the nature of the SO2, will screws add any sort of rigidity? Edit: I'm thinking jettison the wheels and go...
