Re: Carbide Confusion

Possibly you have the number of steps or the micro-stepping for the Z-axis incorrectly set. Please check against: http://docs.carbide3d.com/article/38-shapeoko-3-default-grbl-settings http://docs.carbide3d.com/article/45-machine-is-moving-cutting-at-half-size and consider: http://docs.carbide3d.com...

Re: Carbide Confusion

Check to see where you have zero set to, and where the tool program expects zero to be set to. Usually this sort of thing arises from zeroing on the top of the stock when the program expects zero to be at the wasteboard surface. That makes perfect sense to me, Will but when I set the cutter to the ...

Carbide Confusion

I have the newest version of Carbide Motion installed (364 I believe). Have created a couple of simple designs in MakerCam. When I try to run these ellipses everything works to a point. I set the cutter to the surface on the wood I'm cutting at the lower left of the stock and zero all axis. Click RU...

Plasma Cutter on the SO3?

Anyone tried this?
I just did but believe I've blown my controller board.
Didn't have the table/ work well grounded and as soon as I hit the cut switch, the Z axis jumped up 3".
Since then I get a message which says "GRBL Error: cutter Not Found".
Any advice gratefully accepted.

Power Supply Pinout for the SO3

Although I've had my machine for almost 4 months, a number of issues have slow my progress. I was just about to do make some sawdust when the machine stopped responding ----------------to everything. Although the cooling fan (Arduino board) is running, none of the steppers seem to be getting power. ...

Halftoner

has anyone tried "Halftoner" by Jason Dorie?
I have and it's doing some strange things.
It does produce a Halftone image but seems to be a negative and at a different angle to the preview image in the program.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Re: How to prepare for Shapeoko 3 - New to CNC

UPDATE! After a brief conversation with Apollo (carbide support), he was convinced that my problems were hardware based. He send, and I have received a new board and it appears to have resolved all those crazy problems. Stay tuned for more from me but for now; YEA SHAPEOKO AND CARBIDE!!!!!!!!!! I kn...

Re: How to prepare for Shapeoko 3 - New to CNC

Please check the settings for: - $100, $101, $102 - DIP switch settings on the Carbide Motion board Then create a file w/ two drill points, a known distance apart and run them. Measure from edge-to-edge. Then cut a pair of slots and measure their width, comparing to the endmill’s measured diameter....

Re: How to prepare for Shapeoko 3 - New to CNC

Please describe everything from beginning to end: - which machine - what motors - which electronics - what instructions did you follow - results of any testing Sorry Will. Guess I didn't state all that upfront. It's #184 of the SO3 build so; N23 motors Carbide board Ed's instructions as well as the...
