Re: Top Feedrates?

Well I did follow as advised and dialed back to 50 ipm. Ran fine though the material though I had to dial the rotary tool to full just to keep speed. Looking around the webs I learned a bit more. One, yes I should attempt to maintain those chip loads for the bit size, but two, I really should be usi...

Top Feedrates?

I've been setting up my new Shapeoko 2.0 on Dual-Y with the Nema 23 motors from Inventables. I have gotten it to successfully run the calibration gcode and another simple design I made in inkscape to test calibration with it drawing on paper. However, when I started to switch over to tooling mentali...

Re: PathCAM - seeking beta testers!

Hi, so after some un-related failures on my TinyG/Shapeoko 2.0 that I thought was the GCode from makercam, I thought I try out PathCAM to see if it was the code I was having errors with. (Short story on my problem is that I used wrong chipload calculations and was trying to run 180 IPM which is too ...

Re: So you're thinking about scaling up.

For my build that is going to 3x 4ft cutting area with the goal to go to 4x8, I am starting with belting. I did upgrade it to 3/8 vs 1/4 but I kept the mxl pitch.

Have concerns of the shear mass x length of it all will flex the belting but its all to be determined.

Re: Arch Reactor Build Log - 4x3ft cutting area

So I am a bit behind on updating the world on the progress. First I found my Build of Materials is broken on Google Docs so i moved it to dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6fj0ndolhkkkaaz/ShapeOko%20build%20list.xlsx Highlighted yellow is the new purchases made and highlighted blue are the areas ne...

Re: Arch Reactor Build Log - 4x3ft cutting area

Day 2: Late Friday only had time to tap the makerslide ends. Spent most the time fussing with a broken tapping handle before switching to a crescent wrench. Day 3: Saturday had a fresh start. Setup a stop motion camera for fun. Started with a y-axis motor plate and found the laser cut holes were a b...

Re: Other v wheels

Yes I am working on expanding to dual drive. We haven't decided on either a second y motor or using a axle under the gantry yet. Probably do the later until the upgrade for the 4th axis for the hobby cnc board arrives. For the bearings, the angle isn't so bad as the image implies. I may tool them to...

Re: Other v wheels

I am making a build with these nylon bearings from vxb. http://www.vxb.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Scr ... e=bearings

They are close to same dimension but at dollar each, worth the experiment IMHO. I just posted our build log topic if you want to follow the results.

Arch Reactor Build Log - 4x3ft cutting area

Hi all, finally getting around to build the expanded Shapeoko design using many of the ideas shared on this forum. I can't believe we tried starting all the way back last June, but delays in getting the mount plates cut and other projects just got in the way. Will be building most of it this weekend...

Re: New X-axis plates

Thanks! I follow the slot opening for the top makerslide gantry ( I like it, allows for both single and double options), but what are the two side slots for that rest between the vroller wheels? A third belt configuration somewhere?
