Re: Baz's 2x4Oko!
I am currently at a bit of a stall in the build. :? Looking at things, once I mount a 20mm MDF spoil board on top of the extrusion framework, then have my work pieces (eg. 10mm ply) and also have my end mill protruding from the end of the z axis I will have barely any z travel at all. In that case I...

Baz's 2x4Oko!
ShapeOko to eShapeOko to 2x4Oko, Evolution at its best! My current machine was looking smaller and smaller every time I used it :( , it really was time for an upgrade. (I was also super jealous of IC's brilliant machine! ) Over the past months I had gathered just about all the parts I would need fo...

Re: ShapeOko to eShapeOko
I see what you mean, but its really not that bad. The great advantage of those plates is the wider separation of the z axis wheels that give greater sturdiness. They are also stainless steel and as solid as a rock, 10 times better than standard carriage plates. This machine is no more anyway! there ...

Re: Kress 1050
I am just about to mount my Kress 800 (From Sorotec, brilliant supplier. Best bit is eating the sweets that come in the parcel! (It’s a funny tradition/thing that Germans do, every time I receive something form a German supplier (usually CNC/industrial stuff) there is a little bag of Haribo.) My mac...

Re: Is this thing even a Shapeoko anymore?
Impressive build IC. My machine (almost complete, pictures to come soon!) is very similar to yours, 800 x 1200 with steel wheels and black hardened MakerSlide (being part of MakerSlide Europe has its perks :D ), sans the carbon fibre and tall x axis. I have opted for nema 17's all-round except the x...

Re: ShapeOko to eShapeOko
I got them on the cheap at a random store, but if you search 'cable braid' on eBay there are plenty.
However, if I was to build my machine again I would have definitely chosen to use plastic cable chain.

ShapeOko to eShapeOko
(Edit; Sorry for the huge pictures. I didn't know how big they where untill i had placed them all and it would take ages to change them!) As some of you may know, Catalin has developed a modified variant of the ShapeOko, the eShapeOko. It is targeted at the European market as it has become increasin...

How cool is this!
If Barts linear actuator was used, could we be onto something!
