Re: Nicholas' SO3 #0491
Rather envious of the half-inch wasteboard. Couldn't find a large enough piece at what I considered a reasonable price to do that. For a while, Grainger had a .6" thick, 2'x4' sheet listed online for $10. I ordered as soon as I saw that, thinking they're a reliable enough company to trust them. Whe...

Nicholas' SO3 #0491
I've posted a few things here and there, but it's time to start a serious build log with pictures and updates. The Shapeoko has been assembled since late August, and I've done a couple mods since then. First was a fairly simple limit switch assembly with parts from Radio Shack. Nothing special there...

Re: Another Makita clone? Performax on sale at Menards
The Performax is actually my default spindle. It's a smaller diameter than the Dewalt, so I've got a bunch of shims to hold it in the spindle mount. It runs hot, I'm not sure if that will be an issue or not yet. I've used it as an actual hand router with a panel cutting bit to cut the windows out of...

Also, if the tap says hand tapping only, don't use your cordless drill.
We're making this out to be a lot trickier than it really is, but the truth is there are a few things that can cause your threads to be less than pristine but still perfectly adequate.

Re: Well, that was exciting... SO3 mishap
My mistake, I'll fix that as soon as I'm home and get a chance. I was wondering why nobody commented about the pictures. Using the sharing link didn't load the pictures in the post preview, though I guess at least then you'd be able to open them separately and see what's going on. Thanks for the tip.

Well, that was exciting... SO3 mishap
I knew I'd have something to post sooner or later... This is the first I've had much time to really do any work with my SO3 so I'm learning how to set up fixtures and stock boundaries in Fusion 360. Everything was going smoothly until I decided to try setting up a cornering fixture to locate the sto...

Re: S3 Hello World - so which part of my machine is bowed?
Also check that the runners from front to back under the wasteboard. I haven't received my machine yet, so I don't know if it's even possible but maybe you have the middle one above the front/rear plates and the outside ones below it. That would have a similar effect.

Re: 1/2 scale
I think I've seen a few posts about the micro stepping switches on the control board. I haven't gotten mine yet, but that's a place to start troubleshooting.

Re: Shapeoko 3 doing stuff...
Looks like a clock- a scaled up version of the one he made a while back? I found it while looking through his Twitter feed for more Shapeoko stuff to drool over.
