Re: Using Carbide Create with drag engraver diamond?
You can do it by just telling CC that your bit is really narrow, like 0.02" diameter, and have it plunge 0.10" (or whatever you think is a good spring load on the diamond tip). If it is not spring loaded, have it plunge a very small amount 0.01" or so and adjust as necessary.

Re: SO3 Control Board V2.1 Capacitor Location?
I'll give it another shot before I contact support. :-) Here is a V2.3 board with the capacitor installed. Carbide V2.3.jpg Here is the V2.1 board like I have, with solder pads in the same location. Carbide V2.1.jpg Before I put a cap in that location, I just want to double-check to see if anyone el...

SO3 Control Board V2.1 Capacitor Location?
I moved my SO3 into a spare bedroom, since it is only going to be doing diamond drag engraving from now on, and it happens to be near a small refrigerator, and last night it disconnected twice when the fridge stopped running. The control board is V2.1, and I watched a video where someone showed wher...

Re: Small trophy shelf - ideas needed
If I am stuck, I just start googling for images of what I think I am looking for.
Maybe try doing an image search for corner flourishes and see if anything gets the ideas flowing.
It's not a bracket, but a start.

Re: Hershey text resizing
This is not specific to the Hershey Text, but when I am importing an SVG from Inkscape into makercam, if I import the SVG with a bunch of individual paths (like a bunch of circles for drilling holes or individual letters of a phrase. . .) they will come in in almost random places. What I learned (I ...

Re: Shapeoko xxl
Well, the great thing about buying Vectric V-Carve Desktop is there is no monetary penalty for buying it vs. the pro version first. I recently bought the desktop version a couple of weeks ago, but due to an unfortunate loss of my vacuum system, I am kind of dead in the water for cutting anything tha...

Re: Milling fonts
I use peck drilling (0.050" peck depth I believe) for both my 0.1250" and 0.0781" holes. I use solid carbide 0.1250" drill bits and 0.0781" carbide drill bits made for drilling circuit boards, but they work fine and don't create any tear-out or splinters in bamboo, maple, cherry, padauk, purpleheart...

Re: Why Is Carbide Create & Motion So Difficult?!?
V-Carving is a completely different way of cutting compared to using straight (constant diameter) bits. With a constant diameter bit, you pick the bit diameter to determine the single cut line width. You want a line 0.063" wide, put in a 0.063" bit. (ignoring runout and other physical factors) You w...
