Easy way to create an import file for CarbideCreate?

Trying to make a flag... So I have to create 50 stars, and then I'm going to create the inverse as an inlay, so I have a LOT of stars to duplicate and place.. Because I need a specific size, I looked up the "official" American flag proportions, and calculated all the X/Y positions for each star (in ...

Re: Earth Grounding a Dewalt DWP611 (110V)

I attached a ground wire to the router body. This ground wire was wrapped around the router's AC power cord, ending at a standard 3 prong plug. I agree.. After seeing the great work the original poster did, I had the same thought as you.. It may be a little kludgey, but I dont want to risk messing ...

Carbide Motion 4 - Reset Z between tools?

I tried my first cut that needed 2 tools... Using Carbide Motion 4, it finished the paths for the first tool, and then told me to switch tools. I switched tools, but couldn't find a way to re-calibrate the Z without killing carbide motion, and creating a new tool path just with the second tool, and ...

Re: Replacement waste board

love how those threaded inserts are in there.. Did you by chance use the CNC itself to drill those holes? If so.. do you still have the GCode?

Why is wood burning / chipping?

Shapeoko 3, stock w/ Dewalt router.. Brand new 60 degree bit (#302) and trying to carve simple text from a 1x6 deck type board.. With the first one of the day, it came out beautiful, but on about the 4th one, I have what looks like burning on the inside of the cuts, and some chips not separating fro...

How long should a bit last?

My son is doing a boy scout project, and we're printing a bunch of signs with a #302 V_bit.. Nothing fancy.. Cutting out of pressure treated decking boards (6x1) We cut all the boards into 2' sections, and then stained them all, and now we're cutting simple words into them using Carbide Create and C...

Re: Text size inconsistent/wrong on CarbideCreate

Thanks for the response... But, I dont think I'm understanding.. "The Physical size of the text".. That's what I'm trying to make the same.. Sometimes it works fine, but in the cases where there's a problem, if I have 2 lines of text and I've set the height the same, they come out different sizes, e...

Text size inconsistent/wrong on CarbideCreate

I'm trying to make some basic signs, with text, and I'm trying to get 2 lines of text to be the same size on the sign.. I create one line, then the other, and set the text height to exactly the same number, and they end up completely different sizes. What could I possibly be doing wrong? It doesn't ...

Re: GRBL - after homing cycle problem with g-code

I think I am having the same problem, although I'd describe it a little differently.. I had the problem when I was learning on a home-made secondhand shapeoko 1, and asked the question maybe 7 months ago, and never really got an answer, but today, I FINALLY finished building the Shapeoko 3 I receive...

Re: Stable GRBL 0.9g settings for full kit stock?

I don't know if this was ever solved or not, but I also had unreliable stepper movement after upgrading to a 0.9 version, and the answer for me was to increase the step pulse duration ($0) although the setting I ended up with was 30, which is what you're set to now anyway.. It might be worthwhile to...
