Re: New, larger aluminium extrusion

Hi all! I made some drawings of the Megarail 80 and Megarail Z in Fusion 360 i would like to share with you all. There are all the sizes (lengths) that will be available for purchase so you just need to copy the one you need and start designing! The Megarail 80 extrusion has some ridges which make t...

Re: Z axis conversion to leadscew

I was thinking of putting limit switches on the z axis so damaging the machine is not a problem, che cost I don't think either as the raw aluminium I will use is not that much expensive and the acme screws and hardware price I think it's quite acceptable! (I saw ballscrew setups are quite more expen...

Re: R: Z axis conversion to leadscew

That's informative thanks! But I would like to know what are the possible drawbacks of using a screw instead of a belt, changes that have absolutely to be made (eg would the v-wheels be good or is there a need to change them to metal rods or anything else) etc...I would only need the screw itself, t...

Z axis conversion to leadscew

I'm thinking about converting the shapeoko 3 Z axis to an acme screw or something like that. I don't like the fact that when the machine is powered off the spindle is "free to fall"; i know there are the springs that keep it from falling all the way down but still. I also don't need the speed of a b...

Re: Kress mount Europe

If anyone wants to replicate it here's the cad drawing for it: http://a360.co/1WpZCVW For whoever may use my drawing: make the hole for the kress a bit larger before milling, i made it 43,1 mm (so 0,1mm tolerance) but it wasn't fitting right away so i had to use some sandpaper to enlarge it a little...

Re: R: Kress mount Europe

You're right in both your assumptions :) I will use the two bolts that come with the shapeoko to tighten it, the three threaded holes go through all the mount so I can mount things on the bottom and also the top side of the mount (also because this way they were more convenient to tap). It's a pity ...

Re: R: Kress mount Europe

I'm actually halfway through with the building of mine, here's a pic:

I also had the disconnection problem but connecting the router on another outlet seems to have solved it, so the milling turned out pretty good!

Re: R: Kress mount Europe

Glad my idea helped ;) i will try again with my machine in the weekend (if it wasn't for the disconnection problem i would have already had the mount built :x )

Re: Kress mount Europe

I can't snap a photo because i'm home only on the weekend, i quickly made a design in fusion360 of the part: http://a360.co/1RjA23g You simply put the ring on the kress "mounting spot" and then put the kress + ring inside the stock spindle mount on the shapeoko...it's simply a spacer between the kre...
