Re: looks like my dust shoe has proven it self
Anyone use a dust deputy with composites? I swear I read somewhere that composites don't play well with them but can't back it up. My homemade water trap is decent at best, collects about 1/2 to 2/3 of the material

Re: Shaeoko 3XXL assembled, but out of square
On my XL I had to use shim stock (from the hobby shop) to shim the gantry into alignment. I believe it is because the ends of the extrusions are not square http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k545/gomachv/1BFC27B5-B135-4029-983F-E8FF455A6D9A_zps4vb8tezd.jpg http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k545/g...

I am using a homemade water trap with a vac and the dust shoe, I don't get any noticeable smell of dust but I wear a respirator when it's running

Just in case it helps you with your enclosure....i ended up relocating the display with some generic jumpers from Frys in the arduino section It sure makes placing the unit easier. Then I had a friend print me out a bezel to mount the display You can see the cable extensions here: http://i1115.photo...

SOLD Carbide Motion controller, power supply, covers- unused
Since I'm running the Gecko controller I don't have a use for the stock one. It's complete with the power supply, cables, and both the original shield and the new style cover. I see them listed new for $135 alone, looking for $100 plus $10 shipping within the USA. Note: I have thrown in three of the...

Re: Strange CNC router noise
Depending on the failure of the bearing it could only make the sound under a side load
I cut G10 material so I can't really speak for wood cuts. My cuts are around 50ipm at .075" but it will go .125" at 35ipm just fine. I just like using the second cut to clean up the edges anyway

Re: Strange CNC router noise
Without digging thru user reviews it seems like a good router. Could just be a bad bearing or something in the bearings. Might be worth tearing it apart and replacing the bearings- although it's most likely just the bottom bearing. Maybe see if there is a rubber seal version that fits. If you decide...

Re: Strange CNC router noise
On my 3040 I never had that noise but I was using the stock spindle. I actually broke the shaft on the spindle once and had to replace it. Your noise doesn't sound like anything with the machine imo, simply the router itself. Likely bearings. Was it a new router? If you have some scrap around, maybe...
