Shapeoko3 (AUS) --SOLD--
-- SOLD -- enclosure.jpg More photos here: https://goo.gl/photos/9ppSu8tresmX5tPQA Shapeoko 3 in excellent condition and has had little use: I’m selling because as much as I would like to, I just can’t find the time to use it. I have had the best results cutting birch ply, MDF and acrylic, intended...

Re: Shapeoko 3 Z-Axis stepper skipping
I've been having the same issue for months - I stopped using the shapeoko 3 because this inhibits all operations. 0.5mm is the best z depth plunge I can reliably hold in MDF or clear pine (without loosing depth from the stepper skipping). Recently I gave it a go with a very simple drilling operation...

Re: downcut on plywood = fuzz
... Just checked the z belt tension with the app "tension2go" and I am getting 175hz or 39N. Pressing with my finger on the longer side of the belt, I can move it approx a maximum of 8mm. Like Will, I used the pointy end of a file to lever the stepper motor as high as possible before tightening it. ...

Re: downcut on plywood = fuzz
Thanks Brian, I gave your settings a try and the results were much better. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34958944/1_5mmstepdown.JPG This (bottom left) was at 3000mm/min, 16,200 RPM (my spindle control was set at 270hz) 1.5mm stepdown, and 1mm pocket allowance cleaned up on the final pass. The ...

Re: downcut on plywood = fuzz
A few tests to report back: These were all cut at 1300mm/min, 24,000 RPM with a new 1/8" two flute upcut endmill. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34958944/6tests.JPG Findings: - Much better results, however my shapeoko 3 can only plunge 3mm - it jumps teeth even at 3mm depth. - raster path works...

Re: downcut on plywood = fuzz
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I have just been sanding this off after cutting, but it would be great not to have to do this. DRobs86 - will try your settings today. I've broken enough bits not to mind about doing it again :) The spindle I use is a 1.5kw chinese air cooled type from ebay, whi...

downcut on plywood = fuzz
Hi! My shapeoko3 is working like a hero since receiving a new controller: now I need to improve. Cuts in birch plywood have a very dense burr or fuzz where cut against the grain. I would love to get a better finish than this if possible. See image below: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34958944/...

SO3 new limit switches, erratic behavior
Hi, Just installed Additive Aerospace limit switches and probe and have encountered a few odd things. On homing and after hitting the limit switches, the Shapeoko makes a noise that can't be good when backing off the switch. This is followed by any jogging command triggering movement in X,Y, and Z s...

Re: GRBL Error: Cannot open port for Nomad
I have a little more info to add on this issue as it seems to be pretty common. Tested yesterday and today with a HP i7 processor laptop (Pavillion DV6): the connection drops everytime the spindle is turned on. With exactly the same setup (on the other end of the USB), using a macbook pro mid 2012 i...

Re: cuts consistently undersize
Thanks Will, Castirony,
Some great suggestions for further tweaking. Fingers crossed the runout test will have it, otherwise reducing the dia. in CAM it is.
