Nema 23 pause before start moving

I recently upgraded my Shapeoko 2 and replaced the X and Y axis motors with Nema 23. I think things were working well, but I haven't used the machine in a month or two, and when I used it yesterday it was very inaccurate. If I told it to go 10 inches X+, it would do so, but then if I told it to go 1...

Re: Professional Sign Shop. Anyone making money with their Shapeoko?

Those are really nice signs. Could you tell me more about the PVC sheets you're using, such as thickness, and where you get them? I haven't made a sign yet, but am thinking of doing one soon. I was going to use wood, but PVC sounds nice.

Re: Upgrading S02 to 1000mm^2, advice needed.

Here are a couple of photos of my machine, which is a work in progress. I still have a lot to do for the upgrade, but you asked for some photos. On the second you'll see the Nema 23 mounted with the wide Makerslide. Notice that I couldn't use all 4 mounting bolts for the Nema 23, and only used 3; th...

Re: Upgrading S02 to 1000mm^2, advice needed.

Yes, the wide maker slide is just for the x axis. It mounted right onto the old plates. A very easy upgrade. I did go to 9mm belts at the same time. I haven't used the machine enough to give an extended review of the upgrades yet. Once I upgraded to 1000m I realized it takes up too much room in my g...

Re: Upgrading S02 to 1000mm^2, advice needed.

I recently did this upgrade, and got the wide Makerslide: https://www.inventables.com/technologies/wide-makerslide If you're going to be buying two pieces of 1000m regular Makerslide, I'd go with this instead. I also got the one piece x carriage extrusion https://www.inventables.com/technologies/x-c...

Re: Does Inventables Nema 23 upgrade to Shapeoko 2 work ok?

I misspoke when I said I increased the voltage; I just used the info on these pages: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/Tuning https://github.com/synthetos/grblShield/wiki/Using-grblShield#setting-motor-current I haven't actually made the controller boards mentioned in that link, so my info is not ...

Re: Does Inventables Nema 23 upgrade to Shapeoko 2 work ok?

I did this upgrade recently, and although I've only made a few projects with it, I didn't need a new controller. I did find I was skipping steps at times, and had to increase the voltage a bit. I didn't change the z-axis nemo 17, and so far haven't seen a need to do so. I also upgraded to 9mm belts ...

Pulley design to lift 1000m x 1000m to ceiling

I have a 1000mm x 1000mm shapeoko 2 that is mounted to a torsion box, and is pretty heavy. I have very little room in my garage, and want to lift it to the ceiling when it is not in use. My original plan was to use several pulleys, connected in 'series' around the Shapeoko, but that didn't work. Bas...

T-track spacing

I'm upgrading my Shapeoko 2 to 1000mmx1000mm. I decided to use T-track, and wonder what is the best spacing between them. On my old wasteboard, I have T-nuts spaced about 3" apart (I think), but I'm wondering if with T-track I could go 4" or even 6"? Also, I'm trying to decide how to construct the w...

Re: carving wooden ducks

Thanks for this suggestion. I watched the video, and it looks promising. The ducks are small enough that I could easily take photos from any angle. Hopefully the software doesn't require too much artistic talent, because I'm lacking in that area. So I plan to read more about this and try it, since I...
