Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

OK, this was quite a fast check. Yes, you can enable the spindle by applying 5V to EN. If it's 0V the spindle is disabled. In my case the spindle gets enabled by applying 3V. So, you can use the potentiometer to adjust the speed and then use the EN pin to enable the spindle. This offers new usage of...

Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

I haven't started the spindle by software yet (excuse my english is "by" correct or would it be "with" please correct my english!) I will try that out, but I think it mustbe the EN, cause EN means enable. All connections I've left is "EN", "PWM" and "F/R". So this must be "enable", "Pulse-width-modu...

Re: milling aluminum

I haven't read all the posts, but I did some aluminium milling with success.
I posted this in a german forum here: http://www.myhobby-cnc.de/forum/thread. ... &thread=14

So, these were my settings and they worked well so I'm sure they will work with the SO3.

Re: Return to Zero

Could it be, that if you tell your machine to go to Zero, it will start a homing cycle?

Re: Electronics enclosure questions? MDF has Static hazard?

I Think the best you could chose, would be some metal case! You could connect everything to ground and then you would not have any electromagnetic interference at all. I don't know if this is necessary, but it would be the best choice you could make. I'm planning an enclosure too, and at the moment ...

Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

I haven't read all posts. But I have a similar spindle. 400W_Brushless_DC.jpg Don't know the exact name. Probably HXKJ WS55-180, but this could also be a name I wrote down while searching for a spindle. If you need the correct name, I will screw it out of the holding and have a look. Mine was alread...

Re: GRBL Spindle Speed Issue

I think you might do some finetuning. If S12500 works and this should be 12000. And hopefully the inventables blog is right (max=2/3 pulsewidth) then try a MAX_RPM of 18750. Then you might get a maximum of 12000RPM with S12000. Then you do exacly the same with the minimum settings. Try it out! I'm n...

Re: GRBL Spindle Speed Issue

Have a look on the inventables website for the speed controller (https://www.inventables.com/technologies/spindle-speed-controller). In the questions section they figure out to use a MAX_RPM value of 18000. The controller needs 2/3 of the pulsewidth for full speed. So typing S12000 is 2/3 of 18000 a...
