Re: MaslowCnC 4' x 8' hanging router...

I saw this on the cnc sub reddit. I didn't want to knock a fellow maker, but I have my concerns too. I commend them on an interesting approach. I do get tired of seeing people go on kickstarter less than completely prepared. The "we will have a Z" is a pretty crucial claim I think. A Z stage is not ...

Re: Controller

How do you plan on going about hacking it? Looks like you are going to need a uC to take the signal in and convert it to some G code. Unless you just liked the ergonomics of this, I would personally start from scratch so you don't end up dealing with all the peculiarities and reliability issues that...

Re: G02 Circles

The radius method can only arc 180 degrees, but I seem to remember that IJK offsets allow a full circle.

Re: eshapeoko advice needed

Doesnt he need switches so he can run a homing cycle for soft limits to work?

I could be remembering things wrong, but I think soft limits are ignored unless homing has been run. Please correct me if I am wrong

Re: Tolliver: an app for dialing in hole tolerances

Cool. I will check it out sometime.

While I realize this wasn't the point of your post, I have had good luck with bearings in wood by modeling the hole the exact size of the OD then putting a small radius (a mm or two) on one side then pressing it in.

Thanks for sharing the software.

Re: XLoader wont work

I would be interested to hear if other people are running into similar issues. I have been seeing some spam on that website related to pornography and it does make me wonder why that site isnt getting controlled better.

Re: Little troubles with GRBL - overheating and configuratio

If your build is driven by threaded rod then you do not need much microstepping. Let us say for simplicity that you had a rod with a 1mm pitch. Most steppers are 200 steps per rotation. You therefore, in this example, would have 200 steps per mm with no microstepping. I would use no microstepping or...

Re: First cut

It doesnt look like it to me, but are things too tight? If you push things around by hand does it all slide smoothly or does it cog along? If it cogs along then the eccentrics are too tight and the v wheels have deformed under the pressure. You need to do some no load positioning and see if it moves...

Re: First cut

If I were at home I would send you a test file. There are a couple out there though. Check the wiki.

I dont think this is your only problem, but what are your feed and depth settings.
