GRBL upgrade

Does anyone know if these instructions, http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Grbl#Upgrading, are applicable to upgrade the SO3 to the current GRBL 1.1 build?

Thanks.

Re: Portable stand/Vertical storage

The drawback to the design shown is that you still have a large footprint for the stand, whether you have the S3 flat or vertical. I saw a design (on YouTube, I think) for a table that swung down from a wall. Smaller footprint. I agree, that's why I said I didn't find much value in the vertical cap...

Re: Portable stand/Vertical storage

Was it this one? http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7132 Anyway, that looks really cool! Thanks but no, that wasn't it. That was the only thread I could find when I was looking too. I wanted to give the OP of the thread I saw credit for the design. I drew mine based on the picture I...

Portable stand/Vertical storage

I was trying to find a post, I swear I saw several weeks ago, but can't find now regarding a vertical storage stand for the SO3. Since I got my SO3 last August it's lived on top of my table saw, which was a very good height but makes it very difficult to really do projects in the shop. My shop is my...

Re: Question about the Threaded Table

You're going to have to fasten the screws upwards from under the machine, instead of downwards from the top, which might be a pain. I was thinking it would be easier to drill out the threads and replace the socket head cap screws with hex bolts and nuts. My biggest question though is why does the i...

Question about the Threaded Table

With the normal mdf base, the metal support straps are mounted under the mdf to add rigidity to the entire assembly. Since the aluminum base has its own rigidity can the straps be ditched and the end supports be mounted on top of the aluminum threaded table to gain another .625" of Z?

This won't be the answer to all your questions/concerns but use GRBL-Panel instead of Carbide Motion. You'll be a lot happier. BTW, if you haven't done so already, get homing switches and probe contacts.

Re: Carbide Motion froze, any way to restart mid project?

I've suffered from the same problem. Here's how I resolve it. First off, I use Grbl-Panel ( https://github.com/gerritv/Grbl-Panel ) as my machine controller. Grbl-Panel shows the line numbers as they're sent to the machine. If and when your job stalls you know exactly where in the file to go back to...
