Re: How to maximize clean cut

Whenever I see problems at curves, I suspect deflection and climb vs. conventional milling. Things to try: - larger diameter endmill (if possible) - make a roughing pass, then a finishing pass - try a down-cut endmill Thank I willl experiment with all that I vaguely recall that someone had luck tap...

How to maximize clean cut

Hello, I'm getting pretty good results so far with my SO3, but I'm wondering if I can get a cleaner edge on this cut. Material is a phenolic plywood multiply Most of my cuts have clean edges, but some curves have rougher edges. Currently cutting on a 1/4'' kyocera 2 flute carbide end mill, will diff...

Re: Soundproof Enclosure showoff + Questions

I've been vacuuming aluminum chips on my two bench mills for years. I have a dust deputy which removes 90+% of the chips/dust into a 5 gallon bucket. There is a paper collection bag inside the shop vac which catches everything else. I rarely ever have to clean the cleanstream hepa filter in the sho...

Soundproof Enclosure showoff + Questions

Hello Everyone, I've been exploring my Shapeoko now for several months and decided to make a sound/dustproof setup so I can really get to work on this and here it is. I've got most of it done however, I do have questions about ventilation. 1) does the dwp router need heat ventilation or is it fine i...

Getting a drag cut on entry path and error starting.null

Hello everyone, I'm on my 4th weekend or so playing with shapeoko and am currently having a few last bugs to work out. I have had successful entry cuts on all my projects until today and have not changed any settings. I start my machine in the WCS position and zero it out, then raise the z axis a fe...

Weird cut entry HSM Express

Hello Everyone, I'm getting a weird entry on my 2d contour cut path that is ruining the shape of my cuts, can anyone tell me what's wrong with my setting on this? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v115/ch1pmnk/Weird%20Entry_zpsgrvm97ky.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v115/ch1pmnk/weird%20entry...

Re: Basic HSM Express Beginner Questions

Getting pretty decent results, but is there a way to improve the edges so it doesn't have so much burring? I'm guessing adding multiple finishing passes? How would I calculate distance for this? 15ipm across 1ipm plunge .02mm depth per layer 1/8 Carbide End mill 2 Flute https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Basic HSM Express Beginner Questions

Finally got a decent cut 6ipm .2mm depth I was afraid of running faster because I did not want to break another endmill, I'll try again tho at a higher speed. I'm curious to find out how fast I can run my 1/16 4 flute end mill at without breaking it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v115/ch1pmnk/12...

Re: Basic HSM Express Beginner Questions

alright it's a new day I'm ready try again with fresh bits and proper cut settings.

However, I still do not see the option to add tabs/bridges in HSM express, can anyone elaborate on this option for me please?

Thanks
