Updating CarbideMotion 2.2 (SP3), from Grbl .9 to 1.1

Okay, I have an older Shapeoko3 that operates on a Carbide Motion 2.2 board with GRBL 0.9g, that I would like to update to GRBL 1.1. Using OSX I downloaded the Carbide GRBL Updater (http://carbide3d.com/dl/v4/CarbideGrblUpdaterMac.zip), and expanded the zip. After running the Carbide updater it asks...

Re: SO 3 Electronics Enclosure

I second cvoinescu's assessment that the fan in either push or pull will bring dust into the enclosure. Also I was under the impression that airflow was not required. The carbide controller is attached with thermal grease for increased heat transfer to the fairly large thermal aluminum thermal sink ...

Re: Fasten or attach

I'm guessing you'll be using thin g10 (<4mm or thinner), I would buy some thin 1/4 or 1/2' MDF (MDF is ideal because it should be flatter than most readily available materials at lowes/homedepot) for use as a temporary sacrificial board. Use a spray adhesive (3M makes a good one, super 77), and use ...

Re: Shapeoko 3 Design Issues found

What # is your machine? Mine is 930 or 940 I believe... I followed the instructions as per the manual, and the build worked out fine. Mine is early. #25. Besides that everything fit perfectly. I am very happy with it. I don't know whether there are changes after the very first batch. (Do you know W...

Re: Shapeoko 3 Design Issues found

Is the sparkfun version physically different from the Carbide Shapeoko 3? Unless items were physically damaged during shipping you shouldn't need to modify anything. Squaring the endmill is done by adjusting the Z axis eccentric nuts. This wiki may help in the future, covers all of the shapeokos. ht...

Re: Wasteboard

I made two wasteboards this week, one prior to purchasing a set of transfer punches & fostner bit, and one after. The second attempt is for all purposes a 1:1 copy of the Shapeoko supplied board. If you think about it, those HF imperial transfer punches that you mentioned are in 1/64th increments be...

Re: Carbide Controller Y2 does not function

Is there a way to run any diagnostics or fault checking on the carbide controller board? When powered the illuminated led is solid blue.. On a long shot I tried updating GRBL; I went from 0.9g to 0.9j, the hex uploaded and was error checked without any faults. I'm not seeing any errors inside the lo...
