i understand the interior dimensions were the ones that needed to line up. That is beautiful, really helps me appreciate how accurately these machines take a 3d concept and make it reality.

Did you need to do any sanding on the surface of the piece after the shapeoko was finished.

Have you guys given any thought to making your own sheets, in the same way building your own cnc is cheaper and readily customizable (colors,weeves, etc).

have a look at goko cnc controller developed by forum member PsyKo, i dont own a machine to give an insightful review but it appeares to run locally on your pc.

@reprobubbles if you haven't already purchased the Einscan you may consider the xbox kinect for $200 or less you should have a workable solution for your scanning needs.

mold making (on a larger scale) is what really got me interested in diy cncs, is there a reason you didn't just cut a female mold to layup with fiberglass??

@balazar For the y axis i would have thought additional agle brackets (every 8" or so) connecting your 2040 to the table would be more than enough, As for the x axis have you looked at the tee bar you'll have to play with your washers/spacers to get it right.
