Re: Dual X MakerSlide with room in between?
So I am thinking that if I widen my double gantry and actually put the spindle in the middle as shown here. But instead of having only one Z-axis rail, also have two, the stepper only needs to drive one side but the second rail will add support to avoid any rotatory deflection on the Z-axis. I thou...

Re: G code not running smoothly
The datasheet for the power supply says 1.5A at 24V cvoinescu wrote that according to the datasheet of the motors which is linked on the first page of the thread, each single motor needs a little more or less than 1A depending on how you wire them. So your power supply should be at least about 3A, ...

Re: Dual Drive Kit?
I like the idea to be able to swap parts. I plan to upgrade my machine soon, and after that I'll have quite some spare parts lying around (3 pieces of MakerSlide, Endplates, Y-plates, belt, that is, the biggest part of a mechanical kit. Maybe I'll try to sell that to compensate for my losses). If I ...

Re: batch 4, terminal block goes where?
It only uses one hole. Is there no single free hole on your Y-Plate? You should be able to use just about any of them as long as the cables are long enough.
I don't know if they changed the plates for batch 4.

Re: What CAD tools do you use?
Inkscape: 2D, nice, but better suited for graphics than CAD. Quite easy to use. QCAD (or one of the clones, librecad or something like this): 2D, quite a lot of features, also not that hard to use once you've gotten the principle (try around a few hours) AutoCAD: 2D. Really expensive, but students g...

Re: z axis threaded rod not gripped by coupler
Can you explain how it is not gripping (yes, it's supposed to, have you looked at the instruction at http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Assembly_step_9)?
I haven't got a clue what the problem could be from what you've written.

Re: Dual X MakerSlide with room in between?
I have something in my mind how it could be possible to mount the z-axis. It of course needs quite some additional parts, but I don't think it would be expensive (at least if I can mill the custom plates on my ShapeOko, which I can hopefully do). I was going to try and modify the ShapeOko plans from...

Work with ShapeOko plans on Linux?
So I wanted to look at the CAD plans of ShapeOko which are on github (and then probably modify them). I first tried opening it in FreeCAD, but it doesn't support that format. Then I tried with a virtual Windows machine with AutoDesk Inventor, but that doesn't work (would need to install it on the ac...

Re: Please help with choice of wires / cables
"IEK-08 Solid Core Wire 300mm" goes from the e-stop to the grblshield +24v (look at this picture, it's the red one: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/File:PS_Wiring.jpg ) "IEK-07 Stepper Cable 810mm" goes from the screw terminals for each axis on the grblshield to the corresponding stepper moto...

Re: Tapered ends of eccentric spacer won't fit into Y-axis h
I'd say you can safely file the hole a little bigger, because the exact position of the v-wheels isn't that critical and you can tighten them with just the eccentric spacer which doesn't fit. But maybe wait for confirmation from someone who knows more than me. Are there any little droplets of metal ...
