Re: Confused about the G54 command for resetting home positi

Ok, so my turning off the machine between running $h, one of my WCS preset, and zero'ing CM is a possible workaround.

You've answered my question. Thanks as always Will. Going to give bCNC a try. It looks good.

Re: Confused about the G54 command for resetting home positi

To be clear, CarbideMotion supports a single work coordinate system and allows you to set the G54(default) work coordinate offsets through its zeroing interface. It just prevents you from altering and using the others. I think the argument here is whether or not additional work coordinate systems a...

Changelog for Carbide Motion -357

Anyone know what they fixed or added? Can I use my homing switches and WCS now with CM -357? I'm hoping I can create a repeatable reference and not have my machine go flying off in a weird direction after activating homing switches. Sure would be nice to be able to use this $80 investment in switche...

Re: Is my SO3 Dead?

Will, is this a known problem with a few bad boards? Because I've had issues since day one with freezing and such. Yet I read people have run their machine reliably one project after another. I really want to like this machine, but it seems to be anything but straightforward. Carbide3D did respond r...

Is my SO3 Dead?

Since running my SO3 the last couple of months I have had my share of trials of tribulations. The biggest complaint has been the random freezes, which forces you to reset all the zero settings and recut whatever you had on the table. The freezing comes from static shock when using a vacuum, loss of ...

Re: Z-axis not smooth, feels notched at a point.

OMG. That is definitely my problem. I tightened the cr*p out of the nuts to get them 180 degrees as per the instructions. I guarantee they have a flat spot in them. But you say they will bounce back? If not, do I have to buy new V-wheels? if so, how expensive is that?

Thanks,
Peter

Re: Z-axis not smooth, feels notched at a point.

Thanks William,

yeah checked and re-tightened the belt, but that's not helping. There is a definite "thunk" at a certain point in the travel. Even after first assembly, the up and down movement was super tight. Is yours that tight? or does it easily move up and down by hand, like butter?

Z-axis not smooth, feels notched at a point.

Hey everyone. So I've been doing a bunch of cutting on my SO3 and I think there is something wrong with my Z-axis. It's simply not smooth and after some use it doesn't move all the way up in the (+) direction; that is, it doesn't hit the stops. If I lift hard on the motor mount/z-axis plate while th...

Re: Jogging causes uncontrolled movement?

Hmm..I'll have to check out Vcarve Pro. I was also going to check out Fusion 360 and it's CAM capabilities. I did play with CamBam and it is far superior to Carbide Create. Makes that software look like a kids toy. Would you say Vcarve can take care of all my drawing and control software needs with ...

Re: Tried hooking 5V LED light strip to fan connector SO3..n

You are probably right. I just decided to solder a usb connector back on and plug it in separately. The grounding on the SO3 is not that great anyway (very susceptible to static), so probably keeping the whole light strip on a separate power supply may be safer. I can live with plugging it in when I...
