Free: XXL MDF bed with 1/4-20 inserts and other ish - CT

Wanted to offer up my original XXL MDF bed with over 500 1/4-20 threaded insert. Its far from perfect. I did all the 500 inserts by hand so they aren't 100% equally spaced but it has done me fine for the past year. For clamping etc... I just upgraded to an aluminum bed so I thought it would be nice ...

Re: Jogging and setting offset with Gcode for laser setup

I think I figured out what I wanted :D All I needed to do was to set the offset of the current working coordinate system (G54). To do this after my milling program I can go to the MDI and type the following: G21 G10 P1 L20 X74.825 Y-72.100 When I select the current offset (x,y) button it automatical...

Re: Jogging and setting offset with Gcode for laser setup

I found this article on how to use work coordinate systems ...and it kind of seems like what I want to do but not positive? https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/G-Code#Using_the_Work_Coordinate_Systems To me this seems awesome if my X,Y zero is always in the same spot from the home. For instance if I...

Jogging and setting offset with Gcode for laser setup

I have a laser for the shapeoko xxl that sits on the side of router. This makes the x,y zero point of the laser different then the x,y zero point of the mill. I'm trying to figure out how to move the position of the machine so that when I'm at the current offset for the mill, I can just rapidly swit...

Re: How to center workpiece after homing?

I tried it out with a keyboard and a wireless keyboard and I'm really liking the ability to jog using the key commands :D I was able to get X&Y to move using the arrow keys but unable to get the Z to move, nor change the increments on either keyboard . I tried num locks on/off... used both numbers s...

Re: How to center workpiece after homing?

That's awesome... I like the numeric Keypad option! To maintain the connection between the desktop and machine I'm using active usb2 extender cables, as I don't want my computer too close the action. https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Hi-SPeed-Female-Extension/dp/B00KY9M51O/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8...

Re: How to center workpiece after homing?

Thank you... that document was very helpful and was exactly what I was looking for. It also confirms that I need to jog to the work-piece. This is problematic for me as I'm on a desktop that is located about 15ft away from my machine.. making it really hard to see the work-piece. So I was thinking o...

How to center workpiece after homing?

Hi Guys, Just upgraded my shapeoko 3 to the XXL that includes homing switches. Im really excited to use it but running into a little trouble right from the start and it with the basic zeroing of the machine. Before I had homing switches I would zero the router on the workpiece and then turn on machi...

Re: Molex Connectors crimp pins for the stepper mottors

Fixed my wiring and reprinted the cable chains along with some new x-axis mounts that I have been working on
Also redesigned the electronic case to include my logo :D
