Re: bit runner

Yes, the v2 should use the same connector, so would still require a control board with the BitRunner connector. I believe the big change will be having the same sort of enclosure as is used for the current controller: https://docs.carbide3d.com/assembly/low-profile-housing/ it's rather over-engineer...

Re: Bit setter question

It is designed to set the tool length offset after a tool change --- insofar as doing that accurately keeps one from cutting into the wasteboard, yes it does.

Re: bit runner

If your controller doesn't have a BitRunner connector (6-pin thing on the opposite side of the power/USB) then you'll need a new controller.

The v1 BitRunner was supposed to be a limited thing (currently in stock), but we did a second batch, and are working up a v2.

Re: 3/4 dia 2 flute straight bit

Apologies.

This forum isn't as active as the others:

To expand on your answer --- any endmill which is either narrow enough to fit on the button (a bit less than 11mm diameter) or which has structure at the center even with the cutting edge will work.

Re: Spindles for the Shapeoko xxl

You would need to get a larger spindle, list at: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/Spindle_Options probably w/ an ER-20 collet. Have you looked into 8mm (5/16") tooling? It's a lot more rigid than 1/4" and a lot more affordable than the newer, larger, heavier tool which would probably want an HDZ.

Re: Help

It could be that the belts are too tight, or it could be a problem with feeds and speeds.
