Gryphon CNC extrusion

Edit: this thing appears to be a scam: http://cncmogulsucks.com/

Check out this Gryphon CNC extrusion. It is like 40x40mm double-wide makerslide:

Too bad they don't sell just the extrusion..

Re: Vinyl cutting with a Silhouette rachet blade!

Thanks, Will! I will work on adding compensation, but wonder about the interior cuts.. They seem too fine to allow room for compensation in the waste area. Is the compensation cut supposed to extend out to the work area, and then get cleaned up manually with an xacto before lifting?

Re: Vinyl cutting with a Silhouette rachet blade!

Hi, I've done a few test cuts with this blade. I'll attach an image of a laptop sticker designed to go over the glowing apple logo on a macbook, so the archive.org logo shines through instead. Some notes: - I set the silhouette blade on depth setting of '2', which cuts through the vinyl but not the ...

Re: Possible Crooked Flange Bearing?

I had this problem too.. it took a while to fix it.. Here is what I did: First, I thought the problem was that the nuts were not sitting flat against the bearing, so I put a washer on each side (3/4" washers with 1/4" hole will fit perfectly on the bearing: actual o.d.: ~0.72in, i.d. ~0.31in). After...

Re: Emergency Extrusion Nut

Well, this is even easier, but not metric: a #8 nut slides perfectly into the t-slot and doesn't rotate. I wonder if a M4 nut will fit too.. But I have a while drawer of #8.. Here is a pic:

Emergency Extrusion Nut

Let's say you want to attach something to aluminum extrusion but have run out of insertion nuts... If you don't mind doing things backwards, the head of a M5 Button Head Cap Screw will slide into the T-Slot. Now you have the screw sticking out of the extrusion and you will have to put the nut on the...

Re: Design Flaw in New Motor Plates When Using NEMA 23 Motor

I believe you simply need to shift the makerslides so that one of them is all the way at the end of the slot. This causes the head of the screw to sit under the makerslide, just to the inside of the "V". Pic attached.

Vinyl cutting with a Silhouette rachet blade!

Inventables sells a vinyl cutter with a blade that can swivel: https://www.inventables.com/technologies/silhouette-ratchet-blade Replacement blade with holder is $12.99. I bought one and attached it to the Shapeoko. It works! I put a cutting mat under the mill and used double-sided tape to attach ad...

Re: Looking for BOM Shapeoko 2 with NEMA 23

One gotcha with NEMA23 motors is the shaft length. To clear the bolts holding the idlers, the 23's are mounted on spacers, not flush to the mounting plate like the 17s. If you haven't already, please check out this post: http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2342&start=10#wrap By flipp...

Re: Looking for BOM Shapeoko 2 with NEMA 23

Thanks, Will!

Maybe someone can update this blog post which lists the 18-tooth pulley for the NEMA 23 upgrade:
