Re: Dewalt 611 - Is it possible to fix runout problem?

Got my new router, and it is much improved, ~1/4 the runout of the original!

Thanks Will!

Re: Dewalt 611 - Is it possible to fix runout problem?

I did get it from Carbide, it would be awesome if you could swap it out as it's probably still within spec.
I'll email support, makes me feel a bit better for missing out on the free one by not waiting for the Black Friday period.

Re: Dewalt 611 - Is it possible to fix runout problem?

I wouldn't think new bearings would make much of a difference to the runout. Looking at the exploded diagram I think it's probably just that the rotor is slightly bent and there isn't much that can be done about it short of rolling the dice and getting another one.

Dewalt 611 - Is it possible to fix runout problem?

My 611 runout is pretty shocking (0.005" at the collect) and I was wondering if it is possible to correct this in any way as it makes it pretty much impossible to do any fine detail carving.

My First Project

After milling a grid of holes in the wasteboard and installing threaded inserts I decided to tackle my first real project. I think it was a bit over-ambitious but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It took around 6 hours to mill. http://www.angryoctopus.co.nz/cnc/yosemite_1.jpg http://www.angr...

Re: Assembly Questions

Ok, good to know. Another quick question, is there a way to offset the machine coordinates so the the homed position is at +850,+430,+80 rather than the current 0,0,0. Forgetting to set the work origin and starting the hello world job instantly sent it crashing into the right hand rail (didn't reali...

Re: Assembly Questions

Thanks for the info. On 5) these are the M5x25 screws that bolt the wasteboard to the frame. I think the hole wasn't tapped properly and I managed to strip the hex head trying to just force it through which was dumb. I have some replacements and but I'll have to drill it out. One other quick questio...

Assembly Questions

So far so good, have it all mostly assembled. but I ran into a few issues: 1) The instructions are missing the Tidy Up and Squaring sections, are these TBD? 2) Attach the x and y axis belt instructions could be clearer, had to infer how to do it. 3) There is never any instruction given on the attach...

Re: Carbide Motion Linux

Thanks for the info. I'll give Universal-G-Code-Sender a try, it appears to be the most popular.

Carbide Motion Linux

I see there is an older version of Carbide motion for Linux but I can't see any for V4. Are there any plans to continue to support Linux? Given Carbide Motion is free it would be nice if the source was available so support for other platforms could be maintained by the community. I would be more tha...
