I have not personally done ABS, but I have cut Acrylic and HDPE without any issues what so ever.

Interestingly enough I am actually in the middle of upgrading my (constantly enhanced and tweaked) SO2 with just that type of a table. I have designed mine such that it is a torsion box table, 2 - sided., such that I can rotate it 180 degrees if I should need large work bench space instead of the CN...

The limit is that in this case, the action sent to the controller would still be active.
ie: If you sent the command to move, and it hit the limits - just the comm loss would not prevent that command and action from continuing.

Myself I am re-using my shop dust collector (a Harbor Freight Special at $150)... Needed some hose reducers, but it certainly gets the job done, and is relatively quiet - or at least quieter than the shop vac

Depending on how far you want to travel or not:
- Home Depot has thin clear plastic sheets
If you want something thicker - a cheap cutting board will work.
For actually tapping - well, using the Shapeoko to drill the holes is one thing. Trying to do the tap bit would not really be a good idea...

I am glad to see the review on this - I have been (while assembling my kit) looking at these and wondering... Noise can be an issue - and it is nice to see someone saying it is working good. May just have to get one myself now...
