Zach...can we get an Inventables update?

Hi Zach,

Rather than get bombarded by all of us asking you for updates, would you be able to post a general update on how the Inventables factory is warming up and the expected ship date of kits?

Thanks! :)

Re: Stepper motors

My motors arrived from Phidgets. They appear to be good quality. I got the 0.9 degree NEMA 23s and the 1.8 degree NEMA 17s as I didn't feel the extra resolution on the Z-axis was compelling. Will post more when I've tested them! -m Are you in the US, and if so, were you nailed for customs charges? ...

Re: Stepper motors

Hi Edward,

So are you saying there's a larger bore pulley that'll work?? Do you have a pointer to the part?

Thx.

Re: Naïve stepper motor question about voltages

Most stepper motor drivers are the "chopper" type and provide constant current rather than constant voltage. Don't worry about the voltage applied or the theory of operation, but rest assured you won't blow up a "3VDC" stepper motor at 24VDC.

I ordered two NEMA 17s and three NEMA 23s, so I'll report back when I get them!

Re: End mills

If anyone is interested, I contact that seller about making a custom Shapeoko set of end mills. If we can get about 10 or more people interested, he would be willing to offer some discounts. If anyone is interested in doing this, we would need to work out what types of end mills to put in the set, ...

Re: Stepper motors

Those steppers look nice. in fact, the site looks pretty nice too. I'd never seen or heard of that company before. I have them bookmarked now. Regarding your motor choices, I'd stick with the 125oz/in model. I'm not sure if the gantry, unmodified, will hold up to more torque than that from just one...
