Re: Z axis skipping.
There is always the chance that the motor has gone bad. Try running it disconnected from the belt and see if it is behaving badly. Give it a bit of resistance with your fingers and see if you can feel anything wrong. If one of the coils go out they loose a lot of torque.

Re: Improbable Construct S2 buildlog
I ended up scrapping this idea. It worked fine but there was not really any gain (actually a loss of speed) for a ton of complexity. I picked those motors because that was what they were willing to build a small quantity of that fit my requirements. The hard part was finding a motor that used screws...

Re: SO2 Nema 23 mount for Acme upgraded Z axis direct drive
I just dug around my shop and I found couple of the prototype plates. They are unfinished aluminum but they should do the job.
Shoot me an email with your address and I will send one your way.

Re: Anyone used Evapo-rust?
Its Miata based. It has the whole drive train from a 2000 Miata in it. 120 or so HP, little less than that in torque but it only weighs about 1500 lbs. Its about a 800 lbs less than a stock Miata. Here is the whole build log: http://mevowners.proboards.com/thread/6048/improbable-constructs-build-low...

Re: Belt Drive NEMA 23 Z axis kit
The Kits are no longer available but I do have a couple of the plates leftover. The rest of the parts can be sourced individually. PM or email me if you are interested.
